I agree with showing the hand sometimes. I like to use it to build credibility for bluffs later down the road, or tilt others who are playing reckless. I usually don't show on the massive pots though where everyone is dying to see. Grats on your big win.
@BradOwenPoker
@BradOwenPoker 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. Yeah, I think it's good to do occasionally to control your image. I had bluffed in a few hands prior to that one so I wanted to build some credibility back and it was a board that I won't normally connect with very well. I thought it'd be good to have the Q9 hand in the back of their minds the next time there's a board out that doesn't seem like I should connect well with it.

I generally dont show but I agree there are moments when it makes you more money by showing the odd hand. I like to show the odd big bluff or nut hands but generally when I show its when I flopped the nuts with 67s or some such.

As a former poker dealer i have to say you are the only poker vlog I'll watch not only are you a solid player buy you seem like a good person. You have a good personality which is sorely lacking in the sea of hoodies and sunglasses. I am also impressed with you not asking to see the opponents hand, shows a lot of restraint against a possible rec player which shows you know where your income comes from. And it shows you wont kick an opponent while he is down. While in Phoenix or if you come back I would love to see a vlog of you in the 20/40 hold em or OE game, those games are pretty wild. And while I rarely play anymore if I run into you I'll buy you a beer.

Tough to watch what all 6 opponents are doing with their cards all the time. Not looking is obviously a losing play in the long run so I don't usually suspect it from anyone... In this case, I actually thought that he hadn't looked at his cards and asked him about it in the middle of the hand (you can hear us have a conversation on the turn if you listen closely but you can't really make out the words). At that time he said he had looked and I believed him - he went back on that once the hand was over and that's what his "good read, I still haven't looked at my cards" was referring to. I react surprised, not because I was shocked he hadn't looked but surprised because he lied to me. Usually people tend to just be quiet rather than lie about that kind of thing.

You're commentary about Arizona poker rooms is so true. "No one has ever won a hand betting after the flop in Arizona poker history" someone at the table will see the turn. Talking Stick is not the Bellagio but it's a very nice poker room and easily Arizona's best.

You explain the game very good and what you're doing. I understand the game and play ok, but I don't understand the lingo. Thanks for sharing, I'll sign up to follow you. I think I could do this. I know it's a young man's game and I'm older. MUCH older. Again thanks for sharing. Got to learn the poker language. Since covid, I've played nearly 100 sessions of poker online. YES, I know it's not the same with real money.

Thanks to your videos I started my first runs as a poker player and I'm up $250 in my small games. Thank you for explaining the game in depth at every hand like this. I can only imagine the editing and commitment required to do this. You rock. Also using a few of those bucks to buy my McJiggity tee :D

showing your hand should always be STRATEGIC.. not ego.. driven.. i almost never show a hand, unless i WANT to tilt someone off with an epic bluff, or, smack someone when I had the goods, bet like i had the goods, still had the goods, and want to IMPRESS upon them " when i am in, ive got the goods" mentality.. amazing how long players memories go on just one hand.. but, cant remember where they left their cellphone in their own hotel room..

@@BradOwenPoker No, not until I posted my comment! I felt so stupid saying that I checked every day, and then somehow I missed it! I expected to be pounced upon by your more dedicated fans. Honestly though, I really enjoy your videos, and I think that you are a very good player.

After you got a coupla bluffs through, i think showing the 9 of 'trip 9s' was the right move. The more times opponents think you're bluffing, the less chance you have of getting a future bluff through, imo. Showing the goods that time keeps them guessing. Great content, Brad; love your 'talk over' explanations. Doesn't help me, i'm still a bad player lol ;)))

I miss playing poker and your videos somewhat satisfies my cravings. I would definitely buy you a drink if I see you in my neck of the woods. I do have a suggestion though... Is it possible to stamp the time on your videos? A lot of people do not realize that it takes time and that patience is one if not the most important thing to win poker games. Thanks and keep up the good work!

I play for fun online, and show my winners, when the opponents fold. This results in many folds when I come out betting the 'pot'. I think it does reveal your range(s), and limits some bluffing from good players. However, overall I think it is good for the fun 'family' type online games;; plus, online doesn't have 'tells', and I do get some pretty profitable bluffs through on the river :) As always, another fun production, and good humor :)
