@@voiceofreason9238 she says she " appreciated " the Judge being lenient with her by combining the 3 cases so the time served would count to not only reduce days in jail but ZERO out the fines with jail time served. So, each day served would count for 3 days of sentence PLUS count as jail time in lieu of fine payment. And she showed how much she " appreciated " it by not even showing up for the formal sentencing and complete her grossly shortened jail time after the Judge gave her time out of custody to accommodate the care for her pet(s) and arrange her efforts of securing care of her personal property. The Judge had the opportunity to remove any part(s) of his intended favorable rulings as punishment for her contempable behavior but he didn't. There should to be consequences for such ridiculous behavior. You say "the Judge knows what he's doing" and I don't doubt that but as an outsider looking in, just because the Defendant has new charges against her doesn't negate his responsibility to not punish her for her actions because he's the only one who can.

Check this out, I got your answer for you right here. I have been through the system originally charged with a Felony, dropped to a misdemeanor took some courses through the judicial system and now it's off my record. As an adult, and has also gotten me sober and away from bad behavior's for years now. The judicial system can and SHOULD be about growth into better behavior's. Sometimes it takes a couple knocks to the head before someones head is straight before WE, just other regular human beings no matter who you are unless you are Jesus Christ himself, make a judgement that will affect the persons life FOREVER. As other human beings on this planet, it is our DUTY to sacrifice our comfort for others in order to live better as a society. Does that happen, no. But that's why we are growing towards a dystopia instead of a utopia. There are more programs then I have digits for individuals who are going through the system but are not stuck in jail that will help them utilize there time outside of the system. The judicial system is a guide for a better life if you aren't too stubborn and proud.

She is an adict. Beeing mad at her is a waste of time. Also beeing lenient. She has to hit the bottom, and then realize that she has to get out of this situation. THAT is the moment to help her. When SHE wants to be helped and better herself, not now, when she only wants to take advantage of you, or the system. Sad thing is, if she continues this path, she will be dead soon.......and it will not be nice.......but again, there is nothing we can realisticly do about it, unless she comes herself to the realization of how sh*tty her life is, and how bad she needs to get out of d*gs..... "Dummy" is the correct depiction of her behaviour. Fact is, if she was high when the police tried to arrest her, she probaly even thougth it was good idea to keep the door closed and her face turned away ("they can`t arrest me if I don`t see them,"). Drugs can do crazy things with your thought-procces and your perception. Even prescribed drugs......

She's a homeless crank head, who has a potential "habitual offender" life sentence hanging over her head . The other judge is going to give her serious time, for sure. Middleton cleared his cases, minimized expense to his county, and didn't beat up on "one of his locals". It wouldn't matter if he gave her no time or 25 years, she's still gonna be the same, and he knows it. So he did what works best for him.

@notrab13 he's a compassionate local "small town boy", and handles his court that way. I'd wager he went to school with members of her family, runs into same in the local greasy spoon, and likely observed her performing in christmas plays or recorder concerts in the local school. He scolds her like an uncle, and rightly so. He, and I, see no reason for him to play "hanging judge", especially when her excuses aren't "well hell, I'm just not gonna surrender", but "I couldn't pay" and "who'll keep my dog alive?" He sees a troubled ne'er do well, but also an unfortunate. Imagine the prison/jail budgets everybody would have to fund if the "goddam jaywalkers, give 'em 20 years!" crowd had their way, lol. I find his approach refreshingly humanitarian, fair, and just. Draconian punishment is a drain on society, and one far more egregious than what this poor soul represents. It's justified in many cases, but not all.
