Beat-making tips and hacks in FL Studio that are actually useful.
Record sounds in real life. Then make it sound nice with EQ, Saturation, Reverb, Time-Scretching, and Pitch Automation.
Add an ambient sound in the tonic note of your scale to fill up space.
Quick volume automation can sound pretty cool. You can create a nice stutter effect, too.
Silence is an instrument. Silent parts in music contrast with the busy parts.
Add pitch slides to your leads or other melodies.

Ambience is so so so important. As someone who likes to imagine what kind of picture the music is painting, ambience really helps to set the scene imo
@Vnlly
@Vnlly 3 ай бұрын
What exactly is meant by ambience? Like, how do I add it?
@pewpew9582
@pewpew9582 3 ай бұрын
@@Vnlly ambience is everything happening in the background, all the little stuff that makes a song more atmospheric. The little stuff that takes a good song and makes it a great song/beat. The first time I ever really noticed the ambience, the atmosphere in a song, was a song called Coming Down by The Weeknd. When I first heard that song, before any words were even said I was like wow, the song made me feel like the world was no longer in color, and I felt like at the bottom of a dark abyss. There’s this really weird droning sound, almost like static? that plays in the background throughout the entire song, and that along with the dark melody I think is what really made me feel like that. Another song that I think does ambience really well is After Hours by The Weeknd (I’m a huge fan of his work.) That song is a masterpiece through and through imo, the production quality is insane, and it’s very cinematic and atmospheric, like a lot of the other songs on that same album are. There’s a video on YT with the producer of the song, Illangelo, who also produced that song coming down (he produced a very large portion of The Weeknd’s music, he really helped create that signature dark rnb sound) breaking it down. What he said he does is just keep adding more and more stuff, because when you have so much going on you can start slowly taking things away. Might not work for you, but it might, the best advice is the advice that works yk. So yea ig as far as adding ambience to a song, ig just really picture what you want that song to make you feel. What kind of picture are you trying to paint? What kind of story are you trying to tell? I find a super useful method also for approaching song righting or beat making in general is to break down and recreate your favorite songs. See exactly what goes into crafting those amazing songs. Best of luck!

Exodus 20:1-17 Then God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before Me. “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them nor serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, inflicting the punishment of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing favor to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. For six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; on it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male slave or your female slave, or your cattle, or your resident who stays with you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and everything that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day; for that reason the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. “Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be prolonged on the land which the Lord your God gives you. “You shall not murder. “You shall not commit adultery. “You shall not steal. “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male slave, or his female slave, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor." Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

What I can say is try to cook up in different genres - for example if you only make trap or rage beats, you're going to be out of ideas in a blink of an eye. Also vary the way you create melodies - if you only draw chords in the piano roll and add top lines, you're going to be out of melos faster than the speed of sound.

As a rapper, and not a producer, a huge thing I see a lot of entry level producers struggling with is the understanding that a person is going to be putting vocals on their beat. It has to have structure and ups and downs. If it’s just the same loop repetitively with maybe an instrument added here or removed there, it’s not going to make a song. My brother, who is a great composer says “a good song first asks a question, and then it answers it.” Make sure your beat has answers and questions (build up and resolution) not just one or the other.

Great clip bro, solid knowledge. I'll throw out a tip I'm fond of just in case it can help anyone: (Open your Calculator & put in "60000 divided by the BPM of your track, the number that you get as an answer = the millisecond value of a 1/4 note." x2 the answer to get the "ms" value for an 1/8th note, x2 again and you'll get ms value of 1/16th note, then again for 32nd, 64th etc. - if you divide the original the answer instead, it'll show ms value for 1/2 note, then whole note, etc.) very useful for non-synced ADSR time adjustments on everything or non-synced modulation movement on stuff. Cheers sound fam.
