I like your response! Having a life long partner is always important especially when we grow old. Our health won’t always be the same and it’s always best to have someone that cares and loves you by your side through difficult times, especially when you’re sick can’t move or when you’re immobile. When we die we can’t take any assets with us what’s most important is having someone we love and they love us by our side till the end. I’ve worked in healthcare for so many years and it’s pretty heart breaking to see older people come in through ambulance with no family or friends and they were lying in urine for days because they fell and no one there to help them. People don’t realize this till it’s too late.

Easy to say that after the fact. I've been going to Thailand since the late 80's. Always told myself, don't marry one lol. Married a farang in my home country, USA and that lasted 17 years. Started traveling again and found myself back in Thailand. Met a lady on TF app. And met in person without thinking of marriage. Best person I'd ever met, beautiful inside and out. She was 23 years younger and had one daughter. I was still working so I brought them both over to Calif. They're so fun to be around and have adapted amazingly fast. They work in Thai restaurant and step daughter goes to college too. Being single was an option and thought about it but when you find someone that fits you perfectly, stupid not to go for it. She pays bills, buys and shops for get own things but had built herself a life unattainable in Thailand. And I'm more than happy to help her. We're heading back to Thailand for 6 weeks to visit family and house hunting. Be realistic and open minded about foreign marriages. My mom was from Denmark so my dad do the same thing 👍
@rdefacendis8 ай бұрын
I tend to agree. Why get married? That Thai person knows you are the best thing that is going to happen to her financially. She'll take any deal you offer her. Tell her to come and live you for the weekdays and send her home on the weekends. No suitcases please. Bring what you need for the week. She may gripe but she will accept the deal. Why? Because you are the best on offer. If she does something untoward, wait till the weekend, then change the locks ! Move on to the next lovely lady. Issan is full of well intentioned lovely ladies...

" Eventually she will ask for something you really want to keep and you can tell her that you gave her everything she asked for and you don't think it's asking too much to be able to keep that particular thing." It worked perfectly in my divorce. I'm so glad I listened to him.

Money is not everything if you find a nice woman. Just give her money each month and do it as a cost for not being married. That way she is happy and you are happy. Marriage is a horrible contract arrangement. You know a woman does not love you when she keeps asking to get married. It is not that she loves you, but she loves your bank account. It is not 60 years ago when marriage was a sacrament. Those days are long gone. I much rather give money than spend months and possibly years in court continually being threatened by attorneys and kissing the judges ass. Usually no one teaches guys about life for various reasons. I am surprised that there are not more western guys defenestrating after living 50 years in this world. When I got divorced in Thailand, we met a random couple at the divorce office who was also getting divorced and we just agreed to say we knew each other. Overall, the burden is often on the Thai partner if she/he doesn't agree to the terms of the divorce. Legally they have to say that they're married if they haven't gone through the procedure and this can affect taxable income as well as the ability to marry someone else. That being said I was a teacher with almost no assets to my name.

Getting married is the biggest commitment a man can give to his lady and she needs to be very thankful for that. That's why i will keep that certificate as far as possible (minimum a couple of years) from me till my lady has proven herself to me. If the lady truly loves you she will agree with this. If she is only interested in the Marriage certificate then yes, you will be divorced in the next 2 years and you will find out why 😅 My girl calls me her husband and she is my wife, we are wearing wedding rings. Best advice is not to get married.
@thonatim53218 ай бұрын
The only good aspect of getting married is to bring her back to your home country. I plan to spend only 3 months in Thailand during winter. I am from Detroit as well and the Spring/Summer here are the best on the planet. Even the Fall in Michigan is awesome. It is the winters that suck. So I am open to marriage so I can bring her back with me via K-1 (or K-3) visa process. I refuse to date American women anymore.

Are all your world wide assets a part of the divorce consideration or do they only consider assets in Thailand?
@GreenyTravels8 ай бұрын
Court in Thailand only has jurisdiction for Thailand. Don’t think they would have access to that. But ya never know

@@GreenyTravels Thanks for the quick response. That just helped solidify my plan to never buy or marry in Thailand and to rent everything. I came to enjoy paradise and divorce is definitely not paradise no matter how smooth it goes.

@@ariefraiser140 You can’t own land as a foreigner in Thailand! I believe you can technically own the building but what’s the point and it can set you up for one of their fake “accidents” if your Thai love decides to go halves with a Police man as there are plenty over there that will! Just rent! Apartment girl and boat if you need to go there at all!

If you bring her to your home country, then she will have access to that country's legal system if you get divorced. That's major league bad news for you.

I *think* you are quoting divorce rates in America.
@stanleykyle8 ай бұрын
The divorce rate in Thailand has jumped over the decade, from 27% in 2006 to 39% in 2016. More than a third of Thai couples who registered their marriage in 2016 filed for divorce in Thailand during that same year.

I tgink it would be wise in most case. Then again she really isn’t entitled to anything you earned before hand. About 15000 baht for pre nup depending on how complicated things are

In my case it is about digital assets which may increase substantially the coming years. 15000 is a great price nonetheless! Thanks for your answer!@@GreenyTravels

KZbin is a US company, and he has a US address, so I assume his payments from YT go to a US account, which means it wouldn't count as assets accrued in a Thai bank...He has a son, so his estate/son will probably get his digital assets when the time comes.
