Other Preston managers in the past decade have objectively finished higher than 10th place whilst working with essentially the same level of budget in comparison to divisional rivals. Since returning to the Champs 9 years ago, PNE have not finished lower than 14th in any season. With an equivalent budget, PNE finished 7th in the Champs in 17/18 and 9th in 19/20. The year before Lowe took over in 20/21, they finished 13th in the Champs. The next year, the first under Lowe, they finished 13th again in 21/22. League finishing positions of 13, 12 and 10 under Lowe are either on-par, or lower, than the 3 other managers North End have had over the past 9 years in the Championship except for 1 season under Neil finishing 14th. To be fair, Neil finished 7th in the season before that and 9th in the season after, so objectively a more successful spell under Neil overall if using league finish as the yardstick as Lowe does in the interview.

He could of left at the end of last season but decided after 1 game of this season to throw in the towel. It was the right decision but the timing was off

Not a Championship level manager having watched his "brand" for the last 2 and a bit years. Too much to say for himself and not enough results to back it up. What he didn't say was he set a new club record for consecutive defeats and no goals scored. The same players haven't lost or conceded a goal since he walked. Just saying...

According to multiple sources online, Preston North End had the 17th largest wage bill in the Championship in the 2023/24 season. Lowe referenced the club having the 19th largest budget which is potentially inaccurate.

@@disco19736if it was a genuine mis-speak, I wouldn't have said anything. But it's not a genuine mis-speak, he knows full well what budget he was working with compared to other Championship clubs.

Bigger and better things to come from this man , it's alright sitting here , being armchair killers , as he says , there's only so much you can do with your budget. Look at his record he's football through and through. His place is in the Premiership and he will get there by bringing a team up with him. Good luck to you mate . ❤

All his time at the club, he was having a sly dig at budgets, he knew the score before he took the job, he was well backed over his time with transfers, teams with similar budgets have done as well if not better, Preston always gives managers time to perform , to have a full pre-season,make some signings & effectively quit after one match, makes no sense, on a personal level I am glad he has gone his style especially at home was a hard watch.
