I find it perplexing that individuals often emphasize the significance of having either shorter or longer hair, particularly in relation to African hair. The duration required for hair growth and the methods employed, such as the use of oils or various shampoos, certainly play a role; however, there remains an inherent beauty in all hair types, irrespective of societal standards. In Kenya, I support an individual’s training in braiding and hair care, as I lack substantial knowledge in this area. It remains a compelling subject. In my view, individuals ought to accept their true selves and embrace their identities rather than attempting to conform to someone else's image. Throughout my experiences across various countries, I have observed individuals investing in skin bleaching and other similar practices, particularly in African nations and the Philippines. This has led me to ponder the motivations behind such choices. While I can comprehend the reasons to some extent, I still find these actions to be unnecessary.
