Vote splitting doesn’t always work as intended, ie, she’d also be taking votes of Republicans who’d otherwise vote for the Dem, as happened in 2020 when many Rs voted Biden… So, unless she takes enough Rs from the Trumpist, it’d backfire.

I agree with you but at the same time, we have to at least acknowledge that he didn't do what 99% of his party did and kiss Trump's arse in that moment. I don't applaud him for doing the right thing, but I thank him for doing the right thing in a position where literally no other Republican outside of a select few (that I can count on one hand) would have. It's not setting the bar very high at all but his decision to put his foot down was incredibly important and that cannot be understated. Had he chose to do otherwise, our country would have been significantly worse for it. I don't praise him for doing the right thing but I will thank him for it.

Possible outcomes if Pence makes the opposite decision: the fake electors are counted and complete chaos ensues with a dictator in the White House and millions of people protesting in the streets, does the military chain of command continue to follow Trump or the duly elected president, does Trump then have to be physically removed from office (legally or by force), and does the US devolve into a civil war. So yeah. Pence deserves credit and history will properly credit his role in saving democracy.

Where was her integrity when Barr lied about what the muller report contained? What did she do during the impeachments? She stood firmly behind Trump and next to her Republican puppets and signed off on anything they did. She is no better than all the others, she just is more opportunistic. It seems as if she does not need to go through the embarrasment to applaud Qanon zombies and speak out for them. Quite a low bar to be called honest. She lost privileges? What is so strange to me is that Republicans who were elected on the same ballot as Trump don't have a problem with their own numbers. Instead of taking the credit for running a fair election in a time of COVID-19 crisis, Trump says that it only counts if he wins. Such a shame and diminishes the triumphs of down ballot Republicans.

I don’t agree with her on many policy points but she demonstrates the kind of honesty, ethics and character that should be expected of our leaders. She is willing to sacrifice her career for the good of the country. For that reason I would vote for her.

I felt the same way - but I'd never have voted for her dad in any universe. I'd have voted for McCain if I thought he'd been in the right place at the right time. But Obama was a wiser choice and he made me laugh. I'm not sorry McCain stayed in Congress - it was GOOD to have an astute conservative to balance things, even when I thought he was wrong. It still is GOOD. I'm sorry Liz isn't there, but I'm glad she hasn't quit.
