Had my fair share of hard times and this song, despite it being older, was what reached deep down and helped me through. Not just the song, but also Avenged Sevenfold themselves. I'd listen to this song day and night and cry. Their music is beautiful and there is no words to express my thankfulness for them. Thank you!

I started listening to Avenged Sevenfold properly after I had heard the Rev had died whereas before I had only heard "Beast and the Harlot" a few times. There's no such thing as a horrible fan, just because you started to listen to them in their later works doesn't mean you're a horrible fan.

Second Heartbeat, Darkness Surrounding, We Come Out at Night, Buried Alive, Not Ready to Die, I wont see you tonight pt 1 and 2 and the Wicked End are some of my favorites

came around during city of evil, but i was real heavy into tool when this album came out and wouldnt have listened to anything else at that time anyways. either way you cut it, this album is their best. start to finish was a straight up masterpiece.

avenged sevenfold is avenged sevenfold, doesn't matter from which album. Most likely the Nightmare song and the whole album is the bigger commercial song so more people are going to hear that one yes. But doesn't mean they can't be a fan of the band, we just personally like more of their older songs because they didn't hear the other shit. so like let's all get along and rock out yeah? :D

I love Avenged Sevenfold but I SO miss the old Avenged Sevenfold. I just looked at the fan poll on facebook for songs that fans most want to see them play live at uproar and I was so disappointed. All five of the bands albums are awesome but how the fuck could waking the fallen be so ignored?!?!

I don't like sounding the seventh trumpet, because it isn't the "real a7x", you know what I mean. and also because it was a debut album. I like the other four albums :)

The song is about suicide. It was inspired by the failed suicide attempt of Justin Sane, their bassist before Dameon Ash
