Ok, several people started comparing this with Dan's video - a video that I was totally unaware of (so thanks for sharing this- I love Dan's videos!). However, I would suggest you watch the video before jumping into conclusions. Even from the first minute you will realize this has NOTHING to do with Dan's video. It's about me sharing my experience of working in the music business for over 20 years- and how I navigated the loudness wars when you *DID* need to make things insanely loud. This was *before* KZbin and *before* even LUFS were a thing. We were talking RMS levels back then. And you needed to be loud if you wanted to make a living as a mastering/mixing engineer and producer. So please, before commenting without watching the video at all, watch first and you will realize this is not a relevant video to Dan's. But the title is still relevant. Lots of love, Dom

Very well kept secret. Everybody back then was suggesting Elephant and some other limiters. I honestly believe that people were trying to mislead people because the loudness wars were so aggressive. Also, Invisible required a bit of research in order to get the most out of it so some people would not get past the ugly GUI :)

The video is not about LUFS at all ;) I share my real-world experience when LUFS were not even a thing and people wanted masters as loud as possible. In my opinion going for extreme loudness this days is a moot point. Just wait for the video to be out ;)

Thanks, Dom! These plugins are fantastic tools. Creating a melody, crafting lyrics, and producing great music with 100% amazing instrument support is the most challenging part for song and music producers. If a track gets over 50 million clicks, then you're in the game. 😊 Currently about 150.000 new music tracks are released on YT alone per month.. A lot stuff needs to be mixed and mastered. 👍

The mastering chain in the "loudness wars" days 😀, the crazy ways to obtain updated information 10-15 years ago, so so true in hurts :) As a sound designer for 2 decades, this video really made me smile and remember the victorious feeling and satisfaction once I found my ultimate output plugin/s that really "did the job" and enabled the desired RMS on a song or soundtrack without squashing the mix. I had a very similar experience with my growing clients community once I won the loudness wars, so maybe it is true to say that you should never compromise on your mastering and always aspire to improve your sound methods. 🎸 Cheers Dom!

A lot of top mastering engineers like Streaky, Luca Pretolesi and David Gnozzi are recommending use final brick wall limiter with good amount of oversampling but without true peak function enabled - as true peak algorithms somehow smear transients in unpleasant way... It's odd I randomly had the same thought recently about music production in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Everyone kept their cards close to their vest. Not many wanted to share. And indeed there was a ton of misleading and diversionary thoughts perpetuated in online forums back then. Today producers and bedroom studio engineers really don't know how great it is today versus any other time in history for learning and sharing of ideas. We have sources such as Dom, willing to show so many tips and tricks that wouldn't have been shared before. You either had to have an in at a studio or learn through trial and error. Mostly trial and error. KZbin is really helpful but we still have to sort wheat from chaff. Lots of newbies pretend they're an expert. So please keep mind and stick with sources such as Dom that have actual production chops in real studios and do production/mixing/mastering work for a living.
