Reposting my comment on your original upload---- Several points for consideration: 1. I think you were too focused on the legality. The first video was about fraud/crime. This one is just about evil/immorality (like hiring a convicted pdf on a children's show). 2. Whether something is wrong/illegal should not be based on if there is something worse out there. Otherwise, so many crimes or sins could be hand-waved away by saying "I didn't Jeffery Dahmer you, so what are you whining about?" 3. Similarly, just because someone is able to pull themselves out of a bad situation does not mean everyone can, especially given different upbringings/trainings. That is why we reapect the people who accomplish that instead of going "So what? Everyone can do that." 4. I feel like people who say "he could walk out at anytime" overlook that he DID. At some point, the treatment was so bad that in his sleep-deprived state, he said "screw $200,000+" Please consider how bad the treatment is for a person in the financial position of a non-famous comedian to give up on that amount of money for 3 weeks of work. Especially during the pandemic when companies aren't in a hiring mood. 5. Not all restraints are physical and social/peer pressure is a real thing. For example, if they said "if you walk away, you will be blacklisted", or "the friends who recommended you for this video will be negatively impacted because of the wasted time/money", would that affect your opinion? And while that isn't illegal, is it evil/immoral? To be fair, I don't think the Mr. Beast team said that, but those are normal things to worry about when you walk off a project, no? The point to say is yes, he was free to walk out (and eventually did), but that obstacles were placed in the way. And again, that isn't illegal. But is it evil? 6. Like you, I think "don't take no for an answer" is very standard for any job that depends on high-pressure sales. But Dogpack wasn't using it as an example of illegality. Rather, he is using it to illustrate the corporate culture of making light of SA, as well as encouraging people to do things not in their best interests. 7. As long as you believe Jake's story (and maybe you don't), the main issue is "what kind of person thinks carrying out the Russian Sleep Experiment for real is a good idea?" 8. Dogpack was ragging on Mr. Beast for showing people's tears, but I think that's because it makes him look good and is often staged for the camera. So whether or not Dogpack is being a hypocrite depends on whether or not Jake's story is true.

There's whole videos about peer pressure. I know Moist Critical Did a whole video about this sort of psychological effect. The documentary about it is on Hulu, called "The Contestant" where a guy is put on a Japanese gameshow basically just to live in the room for a year, and you could see him go insane... Literally. There's a lot more than just "you can leave at any time", even without the being blacklisted. Its not as easy as just saying no, especially seen from the outside perspective

Look man, as I've said in your previous upload, I'm a grown ass adult with my own mind who makes my own decisions but I've been in situations where my mind makes me believe that not only can I not say no, I'm not allowed to. I hate that about myself, I'm working on it, but it does not change the fact that people have taken advantage of that. I know that I'm mentally vulnerable but factually knowing doesn't always reflect in the real world. It's just that as a creator who cares about mental health, I just think that you need to take a step back and realize that what you're focused on (the legality and technicalities) is not the point here and that people are surprised by your lack of empathy towards someone in a situation that is far too common for others. I'm glad you can walk away whenever you want or think a situation isn't good for you despite your own mental health, but that's not the reality for so many people, that's how vulnerable people are taken advantage of. Like I respect your skepticism, but it's just that your wording and verbiage is concerning as it's a rhetoric that has been weaponized too often against victims. And to make clear, here I'm referring to a whole range of victims and not just romantic/sexual relationships. An abuser can be a boss, a family member, a friend, and it does not make the abuse any less legitimate.

The thing about the challenge is, they didn’t say they were going to torture him.. Wasn’t the premise it’d be this cool fun place with a hot tub, ice cream machine and stuff like that? He made it sound like he’d been sold on the challenge being something like he’d have to choose what things to give up until it was almost empty. Trying to sleep deprive him and mess with his hearing and smell and paint fumes and a grungy unfiltered lukewarm “hot tub” seemed like things they should have paid him extra for, not lose the challenge if he couldn’t do the impossible. Although I’m sure if he “had to” get rid of something he’d get that crap out of there as soon as they let him. The marathon was too much as an added requirement, on top of all that too. The bait and switch probably went into the thinking too. They changed it after the fact, messing with him because they could.

@@subarashiikylox it all depends on where you are at the time. Sometimes even little things can make a bad day worse. And you have to plan for things like that. You’re not always in a place to maneuver through someone’s attempt to break you down, someone who happened to control his whole environment too. They finally found his breaking point, and it was the marathon on top of everything else up to then. The challenge wasn’t supposed to be how much physical and mental torture he could withstand, though. It was surviving in solitary confinement with a bunch of fun items he’d have to progressively give up. It was still a bait and switch and he should have gotten paid the full amount unless the premise was seeing how much sensory, physical and psychological assault he could be pressured into “agreeing” to after being roped in, or “ruining the whole production”. Seems like they also pressured him after putting him under duress to manipulate him even more, acting like common decency such as giving the lights nighttime hours or not doing the extra challenges would make the whole production a big waste.

That doesn't excuse Mr Beast LLC but it's pretty pathetic and hypocritical to just condemn a company about something only when something else entirely different happens so we can now cancel them about that shit too. Dude was sleep deprived, in a room without windows (where the paint fumes he mentioned at the start were probably stuck in for a long time), mentally decaying, put under pressure form the staff to stay in and the only sense of time he had was when they brought in the encouragement to keep going (money). I highly doubt he was in the right place mentaly to make rational decisions under these circumstances. Legal or not, that is not the point. The point is that this is no way to treat a person. They baited him with money to torture him because (in my opinion) they knew he would play along if they payed him "well" enough. Its a moral question, not a legal one.

Cliff I totally agree with your take on this situation. If you are an employee being paid then your boss should be able to do whatever they want to you including emotional and physical abuse because you are an adult and can say no and walk away at any time. MrBeast is a genius for this idea and I don't know why the video didn't get released. You plan on naming the video 100 days in solitary confinement but you tell the employee don't worry its only going to be 30 days and you will pay him 300k EASY MONEY. Also its going to be like a luxury hotel and will only be a challenge for the last 5 days. Then after the employee agrees and shows up to work the actual accommodations are shit and you keep these giant flourescent lights on 24 hours a day in a bright white room that reflects all the light. By the second day its all money because with the lack of sleep the employee won't be able to make good decisions and you can easily manipulate them into doing all sorts of things no one in their right mind would do. The only thing that went wrong here was the marathon. Without the marathon they probably would have gotten close to the 30 days and Jake would have had much more permanent mental trauma from this. It would be a real video of a sane persons descent into madness with great time lapse shots. Or maybe workers should have some rights and employers shouldn't be able to blatantly lie to people about a job? Maybe a psych person should have been checking in every other day to make sure the person in the challenge is capable of consenting to the bullshit you are putting them through? Having the psych person come in on the 9th or 10th day of no sleep and AFTER he has a mental breakdown is wild.

Mr Beast is promising 300k, participation in a video with 100m+ views, future opportunities, nice look on your resume. You have the pressure of failing the operation, letting the whole crew down, having on your resume that you lost a huge investment of the biggest youtuber, you cost his company hundreds of thousands, and you lost his crew weeks of filming efforts. I'm glad that you are the kind of person to say "fu" and leave but this doesn't make this situation amazing, ethical, and certainly doesn't make Mr Beast a less evil sociopath. He could have turned off the lights, he could have reframed the challenge to "100 hours", "TWO WEEKS", "500 hours", those seem clickable enough. He could have included in the video that since his mental health is deteriorating so much Mr Beast would free him and give him the money anyway which would make for a heartwarming outcome. He is a horrible human being who doesn't feel much empathy, is terrible at regulating himself, and would do anything to use his reputation and power differential to exploit his crew and veiwers to get views and money at an unhealthy rate at any cost.

As I said on your original upload...this is an extremely disappointing take from someone who encourages their viewers to get in touch with them if they're struggling with their mental health. Is this the type of understanding you show those who do reach out? I certainly hope not. Not to mention the EXTREME effects people experience from sleep deprivation. I feel like this fact hasn't been considered much if at all. I don't understand your fixation on legality. I don't think the video was meant to speak on that at all. Instead I think it's meant to show a workplace culture that is immoral and lacks empathy for fellow humans. Everyone is not the same. Just because you are able to walk away from a horrible situation doesn't mean all people have that same ability. The crying situation isn't the same. He's saying Mr. Beast exploits someones tears of joy and appreciatoon to show how "great" and "generous" they are. This guy is crying tears of pain while attenpting to talk about an experience that was clearly very traumatic for him. So no it's not hypocritical because it's a completely different situation. Lastly, comparing suffering is never a good idea. Yes, you also experienced suffering during your childhood. I did as well. It sounds like you had a wonderful mom. I also had the very best mom in the world. Maybe this guy experienced suffering and DIDN'T have a great mom. I'm not saying that's true but my point is we don't know what else this person has been through and you never know what might finally break them. Like perhapse someone with a big platform that literally talks about being a resource for people struggling with mental health in every video, showing a lack of empathy and almost blaming them for what they endured. I can absolutely respect your opinion being different than mine. What I can't get behind is the way you went about expressing it. You didn't once question the dishonestly or unethical treament coming from Mr. Beast's side, while criticising every move ( or lack there of) made by the guy being mistreated. It's unnecessarily harsh and has a much greater potential to do more harm to the person struggling with their mental health. I mean, you are surely aware that there are people who really have a hard time standing up for themselves when being taken advantage of. Telling him he's a grown man that should've walked out is not only condescending, but dismissive as well. Giving him the benefit of the doubt wouldn't have been a difficult thing to do, especially considereing all the stories we've been hearing concerning Mr.Beast. The worst part of it all is, if you truly understand mental health (you do), you should absolutely know better. Supporting mental health is something you don't see on many channels and it was something I really admired about yours, but the way you reacted to this with almost zero empathy has been deeply disappointing for me. I hope you're able to reflect on how some of your rhetoric could quite easily worsen the state of someones mental state and also acknowledge how everyone isn't you. Things that you are capable of that work for you won't be the same for all other people.

@@Azreal0864 If we want to speak in terms of legality, I would want to see how the actual contract agreement was worded; if a contract wasn’t written, then that was a bad decision on Jake’s part to participate with nothing in writing regarding what he was willing to endure/do and compensation. (seriously always have something in writing before agreeing to shit like this). Morally, I think it’s fucked up that he didn’t get the whole amount purely because of how many issues the project/concept actually had when put into action. I guarantee you that no one considered the lights impacting his ability to sleep during the pitch meetings. The initial concept put into practice with Jake had too many arguably dangerous and questionable issues that weren’t expected, considered, or planned for until the concept was actually put into action. That being said, I personally feel he’s entitled to all that was initially promised even though he didn’t complete the “whole challenge” or whatever because Jake’s participation helped them figure out what needed to be addressed and tweaked the next time they wanted to do something like this.

Yes, YOU (for example) would have pulled the plug as soon as you felt weird about the challenge, (be it mentally and or physically) but...the guy in the challenge is NOT you. How about trying to put yourself in his shoes? There are people ***everywhere*** who are peer pressured.....bullied at school...in the workplace, etc, etc, ect, who do things that are harmful to themselves....... You know this bro. Another commenter said it's akin to an abusive relationship, and that is a GREAT point. To blame the victim in this case does NOT tell the story. I think by the end of Jack’s interview and progressively as it goes on you’re actually just nitpicking him and almost discrediting him because it’s inconceivable to you for a “Grown Man” to act or react in such a way. First misconception is the way your using grown man is from a toxic perspective as in how could a grown man not face confrontation or react confidently in aggression which not all men can do. And let’s be clear a grown man is a human with penis who has lived for a specific amount of time, that has nothing to do with their personality or experiences. So using grown man or in other words his age to belittle his behavior all because it wasn’t aggressive like yours would be. That’s it honestly I just felt like it was super disingenuous for you to try and make these links between your background for us the audience sake only to use said “connections or links” as validation to discredit him. I may have used a bit of charged language in this comment but at a certain point Cliff just starts tripping. I’ll also admit the guy is a bit unstable to say the least but not untrustworthy.

@yamamotogotbodied1606
@yamamotogotbodied1606 24 күн бұрын
@@CliffBeatsOfficial you did say that and my paragraph wasn’t for to change anything you said respectfully. I went out of my way to comment to level out the bias for the audience watching. And granted I should have mentioned that you did say that you can understand people think differently and react differently, everything after that is picking apart how he reacts to stress and volatile situations from the way you would react and gauging whether or not he’s credible by how close he falls to your own way of thinking and behavior. Which while is fine and something we all automatically do as people as not every can put themselves in someone’s shoes, you don’t maintain that energy, you said you could understand how not everyone deals with things the same way, but then go on to say something is off with his interview or his version of things primarily because he didn’t remove himself from the situation in the same way you would. Now this time being generous to your position, that is when you stop to state you can understand that everyone again deals with intense situations differently, however your thoughts don’t go further than the statement based on how you followed up. I also agree that the paragraph is unnecessary especially because this one is to kind of change your opinion and I can clearly tell you’re the stand your ground type. So short and sweet, some “Grown Men” and probably more than you think are adverse to conflict even to the point of choosing the passive option or submission before ever thinking of aggression even if the threat of physical violence is involved. If my words are false how does the bullying dynamic work then. My only point is that for you to draw so many parallels between the two of you as a clear way of saying you can see where he’s coming from only to use that against him is nuts to me. I’m not gonna drag it because it’s not like you come out and say he was lying but whether intentionally or unintentionally you used the bits you two had in common to poke holes in his story simply because you disagreed with how to handle the immediate situation.

If the other person starts hitting you and makes you do things against your will, it's still using that person, they didn't agree on being beaten or tied up. I'll repost my comment from your stream: Gotta say I agree with you.. The first video showed lots of shitty things, while this second one made me sceptical even from the start. The dog-guy said "They contacted my people" So, he just started his KZbin channel, he only had one mic to use in the interview, yet, he have a whole team of people working for him? And when it comes to the guy getting interviewed.. He said in the beginning that he was SO happy to have left his job, cause it was an awful place to be, and he hated his boss. Then he later got on to saying how happy he was when they offered him a new chance to be in one of their videos.. And, at least to me, he seemed a bit too dramatic about things like, "the room had just been painted, and smelled like paint" (just like a newly renovated house will do), "the ice cream machine made an annoying noice" (it couldn't have been THAT loud, or else it would have ruined the audio for the video, right?), and "I got blisters on my feets from running (yeah it hurts, but if that's the worst pain you've ever experienced, well...) Also, HE said himself in the interview, that he couldn't quit, cause he wanted the money, and wrote in one of the texts that he was upset that he only got 100k, instead of 300k, AND he had to pay tax (yet he still had 54k left, for 10 days work), so it seemed pretty clear that money (or rather, getting as much money possible, as quick as possible) was his main motivation. And THAT is a choice he could have avoided, especially as he didn't say he needed the money for life saving surgery, or anything like that. He said he needed it to boost his own career.. *and yes, I get that it's not easy to say no in a situation like that, but he still COULD have said no. I mean, personally, I have aspergers and bipolar 2, and my self esteem have always been bad, yet when I was 18 and worked at a place were I got bullied by my coworker, it got to a point were I chose to quit on the spot. I had no savings, no new job in sight, but I knew I couldn't stay at that place, so I quitted..
