Here in the UK we now have royal match ads on the TV, yes, the Tele, thankfully it shows somewhat real gameplay with Simon Cowell on the set of Britain's Git Talent playing the game ig.

These ads are pretty devious. The slowpoke on the left playing is so consistently bad it makes you want to play the game yourself out of sheer frustration, knowing you'd probably do better... and meanwhile the actual game is hardly like it at all. Why not just make the game on the left to start with instead of only making misleading footage for promotional ads for yet another Candy Crush clone? It would probably stand out way more.

100% true my friend. They will be more challenging and way more addictive for the players as well. Instead they just keep it like a side quest. I feel it's because they don't want to put in enough effort to make the game like their ads.

I downloaded the game yesterday, and after getting past a few dozen levels, I deleted it. The gameplay you see in the ad only came up 3 or 4 times in the 50-odd levels I passed, and it seems to be at random. When reading the reviews in the App Store, there was someone who said they’d played dozens of levels and NEVER come across the ‘save the King’ scenario that you see in the ads. Shameful

The interesting thing is when you play games like the ones in the ad they’re so easy to beat that they’re not actually that fun. But when you see them in the ad your brain wants to fix all the mistakes the player is doing wrong. It’s a weird psychological trick. But not actually that fun in real life.

I have the game and actually enjoy it. However, the ads are misleading. There IS a rare gameplay feature called “Kings Nightmare” in which you have to save the king from scenarios as seen in the video. However, there is no scrolling involved. The game itself stays still while you have a timer going.

These low-quality mobile game ads always tried too hard to be like the Henry Stickmin games by putting "FAIL" into their ads. In reality, these mobile game ads should be slapped with a "FAIL" sign on their faces because the fails in their ads are not even funny at all.

Royal Match has the biggest bunch of false advertisement as i have ever seen. As far as I can see, there is no level where you save the King. I am infuriated every time I see the ads. It's the same thing with Homescapes and Gardenscapes. And their ads are worse than Royal Match's. They actually say they are not fake ads when there is no access to any of the games they advertise.

Yeah, it may seem like the “player” in the gameplay ads are intentionally trying to kill the king as no human being alive can actually be THAT bad. However, what they are actually doing here is a simple psychological trick where they want to frustrate the person watching it so it makes them want to “fix” the mistakes of the bad gameplay, so they will download the game and start playing. It’s annoying but it obviously works given how they are able to afford putting out so many ads in practically every mobile game along with the celebrity endorsements.
