I4C 2024 Workshop: The role of removals

As the world moves towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, removal activities will play a crucial role. Integrating removals into emissions pricing systems provides a unique opportunity but also presents challenges in maintaining integrity and continuing to incentivize reductions in gross emissions. This session explored opportunities and challenges, examining real-world examples of countries that have already included removals in their systems and those working towards doing so. It discussed the role of forestry, and engineered greenhouse gas removals.
