Edit: My issues with it booting ended up not being related to memory or the motherboard, it was the GPU! Setting the BIOS to run the top PCI-E slot at Gen 3 speed and updating the vBIOS of the GPU totally fixed the issue. I had to re-upload this, for some reason the last ~30 seconds got cut off the first time. Thanks for watching!

I also built my machine wih this motherboard and an RTX-3080 12Gb (I got on sale) It works really well and oddly enough the F23 Bios they released in Match created a stable 4 RAM (2x kit x2) 64GB with basic settings taking it to 4.9 Ghz just choosing the XMP profile Before that I had to bump the DRAM voltage to 1.41v. I am now running a at 5Ghz, using basic BIOS perfomanec settings and just for my peice of mind dod bump VDRAM to 1.39 volts. While the board doesn't have any onboard argb visuals, it reflects the nicely. F23 update was on track to take 4 hours. So I made a USB for Qflash +, aborted the oddly slow Bios update!! And Qflash + worked perfectly, no bricks.

I'm gathering parts to byild the same platform Gigabyte AeroG ddr4 using TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert overclocking 10L DDR4 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) 3600MHz are you saying its recommended to increase memory voltage to 1.3? in order to use the xmp-at 3600 mega transfers? What if before turning on the XMP the voltage is increased befoirehand?

Great video and epic build - really like the look. I'm currently rocking 8700k coupled with 3080Ti FE. I've been going back and forth on upgrading to 12700/900k but based on my research I double I'll see any significant FPS increase in games. I play at 4k exclusively and so far been getting 120+ fps in vast majority of titles. I'm thinking of waiting for a couple of years until DDR5 becomes the new standard then swapping over to 14/15th gen intel with DDR5 and keeping the 3080Ti or perhaps getting the 4080Ti if there's a big enough difference. What do you think?

If you play exclusively at 4K and the 8700k can push the 3080ti to full utilization, then you are probably ok. I think it will be another gen or two before DDR5 becomes a must-have, just like the DDR3 -> transition. They will either lower latency, increase MT/s or both, and then we will see more performance difference in actual games.

You can use MSI afterburner or the Xbox game bar overlay to see GPU utilization in-game. (I use msi afterburner for my screen recording but it’s a bit more work to get set up)

That will all depend on the games, settings, resolution, etc so it’s hard to say definitively. Games like FH5 though, where the 3080ti was bottlenecked by the 9900k at 1440p now go to full utilization. Thanks for tuning in 👍

Would you say it was worth the upgrade ? Currently going back and forth with myself lol. I have a 3080ti that I haven’t installed yet. Waiting on some hard tubing as my system is water cooled. Was going to swap my 2080 with the 3080ti. Currently have a 9900k as well. E On the flip side I was debating on just doing a brand new build with the 3080ti and a 12900k but not sure if I’ll see a massive leap in fps gains. I game on ultra wide. You think a 9900k with the 3080ti will be a good enough upgrade over my current 2080 or would I see major gains going with a 12900 and 3080ti setup?

Depends on what resolution, at 4K they’re going to be 99% the same, but if you play at 1080p/1440p, or play more competitive high FPS online games, you’d probably notice more of a difference.

Hows the mobo doing? Was looking to get the Strix Z690 DDR4 but due to stock this might be my 2nd choice. Wish they made some of the nice white boards for ddr4 as well.

Doing well so far. Yeah I with there were more white DDR4 boards to choose from too, but I think this is about the best looking one out right now for a white build imo. If you have any issues on a z690 board getting a black screen at boot with an RTX 3000 or new AMD GPU, set the PCI-E slot to Gen 3 in the BIOS. I had to do that, but it’s the only real quirk I’ve run into and I don’t think it’s exclusive to this board.

Lots of memory kits can run above rated speeds via overclocking. Instead of using XMP, you set the voltage and speeds manually.
