Let me guess. In order to change the wiper fluid: you have to drive to Munich Germany, park facing the south at 7:45 AM, jack the car up and spin the rear wheel at exactly 15 RPM while having the front wheels at an exact 30 degree angle, and recite the German bill of rights in perfect German. Only then, with the company of 12 German elders, will the fill cap come loose.

#1 that is not located under the hood #2 Most Bmw I8 come with up to 100k mile warranty, so you will be able to get free repairs if anything goes wrong, the car is very reliable, it doesn't have all of the problems that other cheaper BMWs have, it is 140k, so that's expected. #3 Very little custom work can be done to the engine as the I3 gas engine is in a small compartment in the back/trunk of the car and modding electric cars isn't a practical option. And lastly only people that are "certified" will be able to work on the I8, a lot of mechanics won't accept to work on your car simply because they do not know how, that is why BMW tells you to only get repairs/fixes through them. Remember it is a concept car, so a lot of it are ideas for the next gen production vehicles

German cars? Pretty on the inside and things look neat, and somehow it holds up well with age. But they tend to be an experiment in over-complicated WTF'ery under the hood. Also you have to stay pretty tight on maintenance, they're not that forgiving if you don't have time or money for it. And parts are stupidly expensive, so buying used is going to be a bad option too if you somehow were hoping to save money on one that way. American cars are a hell of a lot better for the DIY crowd. Good under the hood, with most things accessible and relatively easy to work on with mostly inexpensive parts. But they usually cheap out when it comes to the passenger compartment. Trim pieces will warp out of place and squeak and rattle in 10 years, even if other upkeep is at the lazy end of being reliable. Yet not everyone likes dealing with typical randomly appearing freedom units and the answer always being large displacement... And if you want the best of both worlds (easy to work on and a nice interior), the answer is to go with something Japanese.

@MrRobarino5 жыл бұрын
@@malteseninja1047. Did you even watch the video? You need power to open the cover to the charging port. The mechanical emergency release for the charging port is in the door sill. Therefore, if the battery goes completely dead while the doors are locked and windows are closed, you won't be able to open the door to get to the emergency release for the charging port. Think about it.
@PatsGarageOnline4 жыл бұрын
@@MrRobarino MrRobarino You don't need power to unlock the charging port. The emergency release for the charging port is in case you insert the charger adapter, lock the car (which then locks the charger adapter) and upon unlocking the car, the charging port adapter does not unlock. Otherwise, there's no need to ever use an emergency release on the charger. If the battery is dead, there is a key hole hidden near the driver's door latch that you can insert the key (hidden in the key fob) to open the door.
