I think I've asked this before, but I forgot the response - how would you recreate the simulation at 0:32? Being a much more experienced Blender user, as well as remembering some of the response, I think particle instancing would be involved. I'm more interested in recreating the lightning itself and its repeated bolts around the sphere. Fantastic video as always, and I cant wait to see what you make in the future!
@IagoMotaVFX7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You're completely correct. From what I remember, I only made one single lightning bolt and used a Particle Instance modifier on it. To make the lightning bolts appear different, I added some random size and slightly randomized rotation and phase in the particle settings of the large sphere emitting these bolts. The reason why I used a Particle Instance modifier on the lightning bolts, was so that it would be possible for the individual bolts to also emit some particles (the slowly fading orange objects, which I obtained by fracturing a sphere). I hope that was helpful. I apologize for the late response.

These are incredible. When I have been trying similar simulations, blender exports them with full clarity but Premiere ends up making them slightly blurry. I have tried a variety of Premiere export settings with no success. Any suggestions on what export setting you used in Premiere/after effects?
@IagoMotaVFX4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I usually use the QuickTime format in AE, with a photo JPG or PNG codec. The files that it exports are pretty big, so I always compress the footage with HandBrake, which is a free application. In HandBrake, I used to use the H.264 codec, but it seems like the H.265 codec is better for KZbin. Also, rendering these in 4K helps too.
@alexmiller34534 жыл бұрын
@@IagoMotaVFX Thank you very much!! I appreciate the advice!
@uwirl43384 жыл бұрын
@@IagoMotaVFX The H.265 codec is better for everything, not only for KZbin. It offers up to 50% better image quality at the same bandwith. Unless you really need to play these files on an underpowered machine (H.264 is faster to decode but even mobile processors can decode H.265 with no problem whatsoever) there's no reason to ever use H.265.
