What a great instructional video that is to the point. So no doubt that it was "Campbell Hausfeld" that contracted with Sears in making these compressors years ago? Anyone out there that could add more detail please? Mine is from ~'76 and it is still running strong exactly like the one that is being serviced here.

2 2/4" hose Clamps for ring compressors.

That’s a good idea.

Nice job-thanks for posting. The “accordion” item is an oil control ring spacer. Since the system doesn’t have a filter, I agree with using straight SAE30 (or 20) non-detergent.

Yup “spacer” I don’t know why I was drawing a blank on that word. Thanks for watching!

I have the same motor like your. when it stop i hear the air leak from the breaker hose. It this normal?

There should be a good functioning unloader valve between the pump and the tank. There should be a temporary hiss, as it dumps the pressure in the line between the tank and pump. It allows the pump to start without back pressure. Unloader valves can go bad, especially if there are plastic components and if it was very cold when it was started once.

Where do you get the kits for these?
@iainportalupi11 ай бұрын
There’s a bunch of them on Amazon and eBay. Just search for “sears air compressor overhaul kit” and choose one with or without piston rings depending on what your compressor needs.

I have one aluminum and two cast iron compressors i run 2 2hp compressors in my shop. Thinking of upgrading to one 5hp Harbor freight compressor

I have been running one of the v twin 5hp Central Pneumatic compressor pumps out in my barn for 11 years now. It’s done a ton of sandblasting. The only thing to watch out for is a lot of “5 hp” air compressor motors on the market aren’t actually 5 hp. If the full load amps of the motor are listed as less than 21 amps at 240v it’s not going to like that pump.
@richtomlinson7090Күн бұрын
@@davlok5159 You should try a good used Quincy or some other quality brand. These cast iron Campbell Hausfeld pumps are pretty good, and there are better used pumps out there.

I can’t find pistons are rods
@iainportalupi8 ай бұрын
Try searching eBay for VT005501SJ it’s the newer style of piston but I’ve used it in these old 2.75” bore compressor pumps before and it fits perfectly and uses the same rings as the original ones. I also couldn’t find the connecting rods when I searched just now. Maybe they’re out of stock since I last checked? If you have a good small engine repair shop near you could always bring one of the connecting rods to them and see if they have something that matches it.
