As weird as a set-up like this tournament is to some people, I played some KOF XI and KOF 98 UM:FE events that operated on a similar ratio points system for characters to keep the truly busted characters weighed down by more unusual secondaries and third-stringers. In a game like MvC2 it's really crazy to watch, just because of the fact it's all active and you can hot-tag during combos and such.

That's a fun idea. Although, I really want to see a tournament where everyone HAS to use different characters. They'd have to devise a similar point system to build teams or get to pick characters. But it would be so fun to see the entire roster be used in a tournament. And obviously nobody would get a top tier team, and you'd try to balance the teams out according to a sort of agreed upon tier list.

nah, marvel 3 was ass. Marvel 2 has 100's sure but they cost meter. Infinites are there but all but ironmans are incredibly execution intensive. Marvel 3 has combos that build the meter they cost, in the case of TAC infinites which completely remove interesting resets from the game it builds more. And damage wasnt even peoples biggest complaint. Xfactor speed increase, metas like morrigan fireballs and phoenix meter assist spam, KBRs boring ass ToD team. Marvel 3 was ass compared to 2

@@raymixb2 lol sure buddy. Maybe compared to people now but the first two months before I decided to drop it for being trash it was too easy, just cheesing people out w Amaterasu/Tronne/Phoenix. Maybe doesnt sound like a good team now but I basically was doing a less effective version of that chun lis players team. There is no cool lame option in Marvel 3, just a boring game for people w out finesse. Stuff like x factor phoenix was clearly dumb from week one nd not only was it dumb, but unlike marvel 2 the top tier was also just not fun. Not enjoyable. Cool characters like Modok, hsein ko, amaterasu etc where just not worth it compared to the stupid shit. Touch of deaths where EASY. X factor esp in ultimate w characters like vergil made neutral laughable to non existent at a medium level and frankly Ive seen countless top players loose laughably to xfactor, the damage boost fine but the speed boost just strait up scrubbed out the game. Im a very good fighting game player not a pro, and at a medium high level the game is just sad. Final meta didnt end up much better then I thought it would, so made the right choice calling quits after having a little fun phoenixing people before recognizing correctly that it would just end up ass. I mean, morrigan spam looks fun? x factor vergil, fun? TAC infinites, fun? lol. Marvel 2 stayed fun and still is decades later, people where BEGGING for updates to ultimate marvel 3

Because it isn't representative of the game in it's natural/arcade state. Tournaments are designed to determine who is the best at a game, not who is the best within certain constraints. Low tier tournaments exist, but by and large people want to know who is the best, and that means using the best characters. Not trying to hate on your opinion, just why I think it is the way it is.
