Just my opinion here. IAM, after sampling all these songs, covering them on his way to being the best singer ever. I believe each of the Stars he covered should let him release his version of each. Other than his SINGLE "I'll Be Seeing You," would rocket him into a Platinum Album. Come on, we all wanted to hear more of each and everything he sang. What do you guys think?

American Idol has come a long way since the Simon Cowell days. Yes I thought the 3 categories thing was a bit strange but they are also doing a lot of things right. For instance Iam didn’t know the lyrics in the duet round and was reading them off a paper that was taped the his guitar. The judges laughed and found it endearing, back in the day if you forgot the lyrics it was the end all be all for Simon and you would be eliminated.

This is actually the first season that they have done the "three categories of what you want to work on" thing. I love that they brought several past Idol contestants on as mentors so early in the process, but I agree that the three category thing is silly. I did have to laugh about you hating them cutting to Lionel's face for reaction. I agree about that, but you complained about it so soon after saying you loved the format of The Voice, and they are kind of good at making the judges' reactions part of the performance as well. I do love The Voice, as well. I just thought it was kind of a funny accident of timing. I agree about the eyes. He did keep his eyes closed for a good bit of the performance. For me, there are times when I feel like eyes need to open. Certain performers, who don't connect to the story of a song as emotionally as he does with every aspect of his body language, can't get away with keeping their eyes closed the whole time. I think Iam could, but I hope he gets comfortable enough to find a precious balance between the two. I also agree you should watch his original audition of Monsters.
