I can see why this was considered different in the big band era. Drummers didn't have to work as hard to keep rhythm, but this one DEMANDED it.

Don’t let your dancer friend run the camera.I’m sure it was mor fun to film this way . A much slower pan would have made the drummer energy and movement ,look epic.

That performance was anything else BUT Bland. I've seen others that were pure technicians, and they played it that way, but You put heart into it. You moved and that tom work was outstanding. I'm in my late 70s and that was, and is, my favorite swing number of all time. You sir, played it brilliantly. I believe even Gene would have given you a round of applause then joined in. Great work and thanks for sharing it.

This is not the Benny Goodman Orchestra recording. Kirby utilized the re-recording of the song by James Horner and the orchestra hired to play on the soundtrack of "Swing Kids," which was released in 1993. In my opinion, this is a better version than the Benny Goodman one.
