They might seem all the same crossover repeated over and over again, but what makes Irving so unique is that he can combine mixed combos with his footwork. If you pay close attention there's a vast set of techniques: 1. through the leg hesi, cross, through the leg and then exploding to the rim 2. in and out and drive 3. pump fake, cross and drive 4. cross and jump shot 5. in and out + cross + reverse layup 6. in and out + cross + layup with gathering step (legal in NBA, in FIBA they usually call it) 7. Through the leg, hesi, cross and drive 8. hesi shot, cross and drive 9. counter cross 10. behind the back, semi spin, cross, drive and euro step 11. cross and jump shot 12. behidn the back, cross, jump shot 13. shamgod

Irving singlehandedly carried his team in game 4 in the eastern conference finals but in a post-game interview quickly shared the credit to his team with all humility. That it was and still is an on-going collective effort from coach Tyrone Lu, to LJ, KL, Trestan, JR, himself and the rest of the terrific guys on the bench.He even said as far as Lebron James is concerned, they are still his team mate and that they still look up to James as the major performer and conntributor for the whole team. What a guy! and when it was James to talk, everybody, his team mates just melt away. real trooper.

Ooo So Smooth They are both difficult to guard in their own right because Kyrie is very crafty off the dribble and can get to the basket with ease. With Steph, you need to literally guard him when he crosses half court, which challenges defenses to their breaking point.

these moves differentiate old school basketball from modern one. How can you guard this when there's no telling where and when he changes speed and direction. this kind of basketball moves reduce too much physicality.
@sirblunticus79687 жыл бұрын
But it's ok because physicality has be removed from the NBA. 1980-early 2000's Basketball is the best, used to watch every game. can't stand the entertainment style play.....what people don't understand is, since the defenders can no longer touch, forearm, hand check....these moves shouldn't be applauded as much. Basketball has changed I'll admit, but not for the better. Notice the scores have gone way up? Score, score, score, score....no great defensive struggle, battles, physical back to the basket play.....garbage small ball always. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3vXpXhqirlqas0 Hubie will explain! If you can't agree with Hubie, you can't be helped. Please children go research guys like Tmac (pre injury) Grant Hill (pre injury) Isaih Thomas (80's guard), Mahmoud Rouf (was curry before curry was curry) You would PAY A PRICE for this style of play back in the day. Now go research "Jordan Rules" (pistons)
@chiggsytube7 жыл бұрын
+Sir Blunticus I watched all those games and basketball then was just shit. Punching people is not defense. Don't romanticize that brutal unskilled crap. You have football for hits. Hoops is a skill game. Don't flog your ersatz nostalgia to the kids. Look at you anyway. Tim Hardaway. Rod Strickland. Spelling Isiah Thomas' name wrong. Stop calling them children and pick up the truth I just dropped and correct yourself.
@sirblunticus79687 жыл бұрын
Ok? I said physicality, like hand checking, bodying up, forearming....now the defender is on an island at ALL times!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3vXpXhqirlqas0 N If Hubie Brown can't convince you....you can't be helped. Who was corrected?
@sirblunticus79687 жыл бұрын
Also, for the "shit" era's you talk about...haha. These era's have the best players EVER...go look up NBA records, besides Wilt and Curry (defenseless league 3pt barrage), where are all the records held, which years?.. I would guess 80's - late 90's who you say is shit?

This is probably the most comprehensive compilation of Irving's ball-handling and crossover moves to date. One thing I've learned from this video (after constant replays of almost every crossover move in slow-mo) is that Irving is most effective in crossing over/up a player when he is lowest to the ground (i.e., when his chest faces the ground). If you watch closely as I did, you'll see the same exact thing. Even some of the best defenders in the league (such as Iman Shumpert and Avery Bradley, who are in this video) were helpless against him. He's virtually unstoppable and un-gaurdable in that position.
