I used to like everything perfect, but I've come to appreciate things that aren't. Things don't always have to be perfect to be beautiful. "Perfect" usually comes from a machine, where each one turns out just alike. Those that don't are labeled "irregular". I prefer things to be a little irregular. That is, made by hand, where no two are exactly alike. I half expected your tarts to be very misshapen, but they look lovely and delicious to me!

Daria, I just started reading a delightful book called 'The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrow' and I think as a fellow melancholic soul belive you'd enjoy it. This part in the introduction spoke to me in particular 'This is not a book about sadness---at least not in the modern sense. The word sadness originally meant "fullness", from the same Latin root, satis, that also gave us sated and satisfaction. Not so long ago, to be sad meant you were filled to the brim with some intensity of experience.' 🍀

Is that a hawthorn in flower? Maybe it's a sloe/ blackthorn... Incidentally and as an albeit probably, somewhat irrelevant side note - there is only one hawthorn in my vicinity at the southernmost tip of Africa, which was probably planted ages ago when the suburb was still vineyard-propagated. The berries can remove {cardiac} artery plaque if made into a tincture over time, yet the inner pip is toxic...similar to the yew berry supposedly. Apples are (also) ever slightly so, yet one would have to eat a lot to get a serious stomach ache) - A fellow nature appreciater 🌼

That’s a buckthorn 😊 They’re amongst the first flowers to bloom here, and hawthorn has already started as well! A lot of plants have so many medicinal properties if one knows what to do with them!
