Finally!! I felt like this bag is so underrated as a Hermes piece and an entry level bag. To me I think this is Hermes answer to men asking for a more flexible kelly. To me this bag is most stable for that uni \college student or that young hip person working in an office or it's one of those bags that To me dresses up a casual look. I love it.

The Herbag is something I could never warm to. To me, the bag is too pared down and almost has an "Hermès for Target" look. Also, the choice to use Vache Hunter on the bag is especially problematic, since this bag's low price would incline people to use it more frequently and with less care than they would a more expensive bag. Vache Hunter's susceptibility to scratching is probably the greatest of any leather Hermès uses. Nevertheless, you gave a pretty spirited endorsement of the bag, which might give some people enough encouragement to buy one as their first Hermès bag purchase. Although it doesn't have a shoulder strap, I think a better low-cost option is the Garden Party in toile, which often comes with Buffle Skipper or Negonda trim. These two leathers can really withstand constant use and not show much wear and tear. And even though its leather components can't be removed, a good dry cleaner will accept the bag for cleaning. I've had mine cleaned this way several times. Now, to change the subject and bring up something I've mentioned before, I've got another tale of a faulty Hermès product. A friend of mine has a fairly new Clic 16 wallet. It's handy for casual dressing because it has a shoulder strap. My friend recently went to her local farmers' market and, when she was ready to pay for her first purchase, the lock on the wallet wouldn't open. She had to return home with no purchases. When she got back to her apartment, she realized her keys were also locked inside the wallet. At least there was a building super on hand to open up her place for her. I've also read in an online discussion about another person having trouble with the lock on the Clic.

I mentioned that the Garden Party can't accept a shoulder strap, but that's not entirely right. I have a TGM, and it has no attachments for a shoulder strap. However, some of the smaller versions of the GP do have rings at the base of the handles for the attachment of a shoulder strap. I think the Garden Party is one of the most under-rated of Hermès' affordable bags.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙏🏻 I feel the same way but about the Garden Party, especially in Toile 🙊 I think I've mentioned this in a previous video but there's a huge grocery store chain in the US, Trader Joe's whose reusable shopping bags are a spitting image of the Garden Party 🤷🏻‍♂️ Once I noticed the resemblance I could never look at the Garden Party the same way..to each their own 🍊 So interesting, thank you for the update 🙋🏻‍♂️ I hope Hermes will be able to sort it out for her 🙈 I noticed that Hermes have been getting more and more strict - some would say unreasonably so about repairs. Just a couple of years ago, if you were loyal client who received a faulty product, it'd be sent to Paris for inspection and if there was any basis to your claim they'd either issue a gift card or exchange it to a new one (even with Birkins and Kellys)..based on my recent experience those times seem to be long gone 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you like to use your Garden Party with a strap, you must check out the newish Garden File 28 🙋🏻‍♂️ It has the same characteristics as the original Garden Party but the shape is slightly taller and comes with a thick canvas strap similar to the Evelyne 🍊

I bought the 31 yesterday! My SA found one in midnight/navy blue (both leather and canvas) with *gold* hardware. I had no idea they even came in gold! Beyond in love with it. I repositioned the shoulder strap to sit along the sides so it isn’t as floppy. I have a young toddler so this bag is much safer than a Kelly for me to use right now ;) Can’t wait to find a Twilly for the handle. Love your vids :)

Just stumbled on this video because I am still debating what my first H bag will be. I favour the Picotin 22 the most, because it has that laid back slouchy, no frills style and the size is just right. Also it doesn’t scream Hermès which might sound odd to some but: I just don’t like to be flashy with bags. Steered away from the Evelyne because I just found it to be strangely sized and just not attractive in many points (GM no way! PM still feels huge, especially cross-body on a petite woman like me, as a shoulder bag the strap is strangely placed, and the TPM looks ridiculous, emphasized with the strap that is way too thick for a mini-bag) Garden Party looks hideous in my very own personal opinion. Now before I spend too much money on a Kelly, I had this idea of looking into how the Herbag would feel like. Since I only wear bags with straps, no Birkin for me. What I do wonder is if it’s worth it to spend this much money on a bag that is literally mostly textile/canvas. I work hard for my money so I sometimes do need that reality-check before spending ;)

The Herbag is a great place to jump start your collection, especially if you're planning on buying a Kelly one day, as they have quite a lot in common. I wouldn't worry about whether a bag is made of canvas or leather..at the end of the day you're not going to be selling your bag as raw material and you're often better off buying a canvas bag if you're going to be using it on a more regular basis. Good quality canvas is less likely to show signs of age, marks, scratches etc.. 🙋🏻‍♂️

I think this is going to be my next bag. Now the problem is do I want the 31 or the 39? The 39 could fit a Macbook. I’m thinking of getting the Herbag in 31. But it seems Hermès is not advertising that size, mostly the bigger sizes. So I’m thinking of purchasing on the second hand mkt. the exact canvas and color of leather I want is not easy to come by. @@IamGPS You are probably right. I think all the videos on youtube right now kind of steer people away from kelly 32 because it's the largest Kelly. They all say it's too big, it's too heavy unless you are 5'7 or higher. So that's one factor that scares me away from these large bags. Maybe for work, yes, but then I would hate to hurt the bag by putting a 10 lb work laptop in it. (cry). It's so frustrating because right now the trend is small bags which makes them super hard to get so people who are actually smaller and need the small size have to compete with "everyone else". Haha.

It's makes a great work bag or a piece you carry on days when you need a little more than what'd fit into a mini bag 👏🏻 The Kelly actually goes up to a size 50 so there're plenty of larger bags than the 32..I'd maybe call it a medium size 🙋🏻‍♂️ If you have a solid insert in the bag as support, carrying a laptop shouldn't be a problem 😉

I am waiting for a Pegase Herbag 31 🤣 but every time i see it online its already gone 🤷‍♀️ I live in Shanghai and here H service is worse than in any place ive shopped and i cannot go to my Barcelona H store until Xmas so i find myself shopping most online. I know its not great to build up my customer profile in my Shanghai boutique but i never feel great after my in store shopping and i even get samples and the Le Monde magazine when i shop online 🤷‍♀️ Do you think it sould be better to choose to deliver my online order to my H store and that way they can see my face when i pick up? Problem when i go to store is that most items are always sold out or not available in my size so its easier to hunt them online. thanks for your opinion 💚

You could absolutely try to order it for in-store pick up to help you meet an SA you'd enjoy working with but your online purchases will not really boost your profile whether you pick them up in store or not 🤷🏻‍♂️ Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Shanghai has 3 Hermes stores..I'd recommend you stop by the smaller stores if you find the larger flagship-like boutiques overwhelming 🍊 Good luck 🙋🏻‍♂️

I am GPS yes we have 3 stores but thry are quite small. Reason for not having items available and service not so good is we have such a huge population here that everything is sold out and we suffer long queaus 🤣

The Etoupe Herbag usually comes matched with Ebene leather but I haven't seen it in a while 🙊 You should definitely reach out to your local store and ask them to keep an eye out 🙋🏻‍♂️ I assume launches will be pushed back a bit due to lockdown 🤷🏻‍♂️
