New York Subway is widespread and covers many areas, the South African one is still under development. It’ll take 20 more years before it can cover all necessary areas. We also have metrorail, which is shit by all accounts.

Currently living in the UK. I can proudly say that SA road network is far better than the UK one. SA had good roads even before the world cup but some roads around cities were extended for the world cup. Road tripping is grt in SA.

All the infrastructure is designed and built by white civil engineers...most pre 1994... Blacks are being trained or work in offices overseeing stuff but white skills are being slowly transferred... All of Africa should have good quality infrastructure like South Africa. Especially Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana but all of Africa really. The difference between African countries and Europe is the governments of the European countries spent money to have good infrastructure so it looks good. Some of the people in those eastern and western European countries are just as poor as some Africans but you wouldnt know it because the infrastructure looks so nice.

I'm so super glad as SAn. But although I've never been in Ethiopia, seeing it from US 90 days fiancee show, Ethiopia is not bad . It can be more beautiful if given attention by Ethiopians. I've seen the good standard of their health facility. Ethiopia need to clean and organize all things accordingly. And modernize their infrastructure, as well as building roads the right way everywhere. And not to forget the basic needs for people like sanitary, clean water and refusal trucks for waste that is very important. With no time Ethiopia will pick up like Rwanda. There are good roads in Kenya too but south Africa is way ahead I have seen good roads in Nairobi and kisumu, but haven't been to Mombasa but have seen from African traveller there good roads there too, also the Express way is coming along

I am visiting Kenya and just drove from Nairobi to Mombasa. Most of the trip was two way traffic. Big trucks everywhere heading to and from. They need a dual lane highway al the way between both places. Country though Is beyond beautiful.

If you are to ever visit South Africa again, do yourself a favor and drive from Durban to Cape Town and stop at the towns in between. Port Shepston, margate, east london, Port Elizabeth, Jeffries bay, Plettenberg bay, mossel bay, George, knysna. It's 1 of the most scenic coast lines in the world. Absolute beauty! The football world cup is not why south africa has an efficient transport system. B4 the football world cup, South Africa also hosted the rugby and cricket world cups btw. South africa just happens 2 be blessed with an abundance of mineral and precious metals wealth and the taxes from all of that help 2wards making the country efficient. We not where we should be in terms of the capabilities and resources of the country but we will be amongst the greatest countries 2 visit in about 10 to 20yrs time. Thanx 4 showcasing our special country

Marwa / BO, maybe it was not because of The World Games the reason why S/ Africa got so much Developed in Infrastructure, its was just because S/ Africa was, is capable of sponsoring part of the Reconstruction in some parts of The Country towards the Games at the time because S/ Africa is a Rich country. The country is Rich in Natural Resources and some of the money was used for Reconstruction towards the Games during those Days in the late 1990s. Thanks.

The infrastructure was already there in 2010 besides the stadiums only the gautrain was the only new thing. SA has had one of the world's biggest tarred road networks in comparison to it's size and just world cup money wouldn't be anywhere near funding that
