Does the glove keep the general shape of the hand? For example, if I put the glue on my hand and let it dry with my fingers spread far apart, does it dry and keep that form after being stuffed, or would it be more like latex gloves(I would like to use this for some cosplay)? Thank you and keep up the good work!
@IamNickDClements5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it more or less keeps the shape, but it is pretty malleable before it dries, so you can adjust its shape quite a bit after the fact. But if you held you hand in a claw shape for example, the glove would come off as a claw. Which should give a better results than if you molded it straight and then tried to bend it into a claw... however that would probably be challenging to stuff... oh, but you could try filling it with sand, and once it dries, just dump out the sand.
@IamNickDClements5 жыл бұрын
So for making a hand with the fingers spread as far a part as possible, you could hold you hand with your fingers stretched, but that would probably get pretty tiring, so you should be able to just hold your hand relaxed, and then after you stuff it, prop it up with something between the fingers to keep them stretched, and then once it fully dries, it'll hold that shape.
@kercy.34905 жыл бұрын

Thank you so much and also for this great video
@IamNickDClements2 жыл бұрын
Yup, just a regular bottle of Elmer's Glue-All, but any PVA-based glue should work, so it's doesn't necessarily have to be name brand Elmer's, You your country has some generic brand of PVA glue, that should work just fine. And you can probably do it with other glues too, but PVA is flexible, which is what allows it to be pealed off, and it's also non-toxic so there is no worries about having it all over you hand.

Do you think you could do the same thing with mod podge?
@IamNickDClements4 жыл бұрын
I don't see why not, it's basically the same, a PVA glue. It often just has a more glossy finish than Elmer's. I think Elmer's is used for this because it's so easily accessible, but also, very few chemicals, kid safe, etc., so no real risk with having a large quantity, in contact with a large amount of skin, for an extended period of time.

Has anyone thought about trying to fill up a rubber glove with Elmers glue and making a fake hand that way?
@IamNickDClementsАй бұрын
It would likely never dry unfortunately. Maybe gorilla glue, as it can be activated with water. Or some kind of 2 part silicone or resin, something where curing is done through a chemical reaction and not air. Cement or plaster maybe. All that said, the cool part about painting the glue on your hand, is that it picks up all of the fine detail of your hand. Lines, texture, fingerprints, so the result is something surprising realistic.

If you want to buy a gallon jug of Elmer's glue, yeah that would definitely be easier. (TKOR did it that way...) But if all you have is a small bottle, than painting it on it is. As for just using a glove... that could work, but really the whole point is that the glue captures all lines and wrinkles on your hand. So you get all that detail (albeit backwards) in the final hand.
