They came to Moscow because their channel was nominated for an award and decided to take advantage of the opportunity to have Messi checked by the best specialists available in the country. Yes. He is more relaxed than a lot of house cats. He seems calmed by the presence of his owner but a lot of animals go into "protect the owner" mindset when a stranger like a vet touches them when the owner is right there.

Same here, when my 13 pound cat was about 17 years old, he ended up having all these tight hairballs on his belly. He would never let me try and untangle him without hissing so we ended up doing 4 sessions of combing/cutting the hairballs over a period of almost 2 weeks. My husband had to hold him while I worked on his hair. The whole time, his tail would flick and after about 10-15 minutes, he would start trying to bite and he would wail like he was being tortured. I assure you that he was never harmed, not even close. We would then of course stop but as soon as we would let him go, he would get away, stop and look at us like we were devils. 30 minutes later, he was back, wanting to be held. Go figure.

He is a domestic animal, by residence and behavior. There's no reason that he shouldn't go to a vet for domestic animals. Messi was likely their best-behaved patient that month!

salim Houhou Messi is a mountain lion/ large cat native to North America (particularly North Western states like Washington and Oregon). He was not born in Russia and not accustomed to sever Siberian freezing temperatures (that’s why his dad puts him in a heavy winter jacket when he walks outside -you can see it in other videos). He was bought on the black market by a petting zoo (it’s illegal to capture them or have them as pets in America), and when it closed later, Messi, was adopted by his current parents. And I assure you that the medical care in Russia for humans is miserable and probably as bad as it’s in African countries,...and this pet clinic in Moscow is a high-end facility and exclusive to the VERY wealthy who can afford it. It’s a weird reality when pets belonging to rich people are treated far better than poor humans. Sad but true.

@@annjulee500, I must say that Messi is the *11th* generation of cougars born in enclosure. He was born in the city zoo of Saransk, his parents also were born in Russia. When Messi was 3 months old, he was legally sold to a petting zoo where this couple met him a year later. The petting zoo really closed later but it wasn't the time when they adopted Messi. Have you ever got a serious medical treatment in some African country? If not, how can you compare? What do you know about this pet clinic particularly? This couple aren't rich people at all, they are middle class people.

Irina Románova I understand what your saying, Irina, but nonetheless, and regardless whether Messi was born in captivity or not, he’s a large cat native to North America (that’s why his dad dresses him in a heavy jacket before walking outside in mid winter -you could see it in other videos), and I know for a fact that’s illegal to capture or have a cat like Messi for a pet in America (a felony crime count after the first encounter with authorities). So, how could you possibly explain his presence in Russia, especially at a place that made money of Messi being there? And please don’t get me wrong because I have NO DOUBT that Messi is well treated and greatly loved by his adoptive parents (the love and affection is tangible in every video), but the fact that it’s illegal to capture these cats or have them as pets in America says enough. Messi is lucky to have such loving parents and obviously he’s quite happy and content, no one can dispute that...I only meant to point a fact related to healthcare and privilege in Russia just like many other countries around the world when pets belonging to wealthy people are treated far better than poor and suffering humans. And since you asked, Irina, yes I do know what I’m speaking of VETR well (and far more than most others could even get close to knowing about by virtue of my profession), enough to compare healthcare for humans between Africa and Russia, and enough to know that the vet clinic Messi was examined at in Moscow is an exclusive facility only the very wealthy can afford...and that Messi’s human parents are nowhere near average/ “middle class” Russians by any standards. When i first stumbled across a video of people who owned a Puma, i was concerned that they’d be some internet jerks using the animal just for clicks. В Африке до сих пор живут племена, охотящиеся вместе с гепардами (они у них по типу собак), так там дружба не разлей вода, не так то просто уговорить хищника расстаться с только что пойманной добычей, в пользу человека охотника. Да и в полностью дикой природе тоже не всё так просто, иначе как объяснить случаи, когда дикие животные выхаживают человеческого детёныша? Маугли (сказка) тоже не с потолка взялся, были реальные случаи. У животных нет таких эмоций, как ненависть или злоба, совсем нет. Хищник, убивающий свою жертву, вовсе не ненавидит её, он просто хочет есть. И если человек для него не добыча, у него как правило нет причин злиться на него. Я родился и вырос среди густого леса (городок военный), можно сказать всё детство в лесу прошло. Так вот веди себя в лесу правильно и тогда даже хищники угрозой не будут. Если хищник нападает на человека, тому всегда есть реальные причины, по которым он по другому не может попросту. Надо просто избегать этих причин и всё. В лесу не кричать, за животными, с криками "дай я тебя поглажу?" не бегать 😊 Они не плюшевые игрушки и у них тоже характер как бы разный.
