I remember being 15 and sitting on a cabin floor with 3 other girls, listening to them quietly share how they'd been raped or molested, I was amazed that they recognized what had happened to them and were brave enough to share it. I remember going home and sharing with people I trusted what those girls had told me, because it deeply disturbed me, and I was shocked when some of those people I trusted told me that those girls could've been lying, and that it could've been untrue. So when I was sexually assaulted multiple times over a 6 month period when I was 16, not only did I not know how to tell anyone but I struggled for years with the way people might view me. I am 21 now and married to the most godly and selfless person, who loves me for me, and I never thought anyone, especially a Christian man, would ever want to marry me. I'm thankful for that. And now that I'm going to a professional therapist, I'm able to see that the things I experienced as a child and a teenager are real, and even if they're painful they have to be exposed to be healed. I hope more people can have access to spiritual and mental health resources that can help them through these kinds of things.

Im a guy of course, I was nearly sexually abused as a young child. I yelled out and the abuser ran off. I carry the metaphorical blanket that feels like it chokes my happiness. I have used eating and porn to make me happy temporarily. When the lady above was sharing my first thought is I wish guys would feel comfortable in divulging their deepest pain. The second thing I realized was that I’ve felt unworthy of God. Dirty because of everything. Like Amanda, my name is Stephen, which means “crowned one.” It’s ironic that satan uses life situations to give us an identity different then our true and given name. Our identity in Jesus.

Children and grown adults are abused daily. That haunts them for their life. Guilt is not for the victim to carry. It is a cross to be beared by the predator. Love and understanding and an understanding that god does not create those atrocities. But god is there for comfort and understanding , love to heal from lifes atrocities. We often blame god. Why ? I have no answer for that. But i know what it took for me to heal from my atrocities. I give her kudos for speaking the truth.
