That defence was so leaky, midfield was getting old, you can see why Rooney questioned Fergies ambitions. Let's not discuss the champions league final. well said exactly ! somehow we always had leaky defense , but SAF could make it with what he had available . never spent lot of money on stars did it with avarage old players more than half the team was average to be honest. won many times with flaky goals at the end . I think even Real Madrid of that Year would’ve beaten us. also you could win PL like that too other teams were same as well before. now Man city made it boring cause they are artificially inflated club you cant even get close to them. it never was a thing to win PL back to back all the time. Manchester United were already in decline as this point the midfield wasn’t good and players were getting old but Ferguson papered over the cracks. Egg he en Ferguson retired then the real issues were out in the open. The owners should’ve struck in 2009 but they didn’t and when they tried in 2015 it was too late and even then they didn’t buy the right players.
