I paid for a VIP meet and greet with Ian Brown after one of his gigs, it was a room of maybe 15-20 people. He turned up about 90 minutes late for it, took one step in the door, looked at the crowd and said 'nah, I ain't having this' and walked back out. None of us where even mad, it was pure Ian Brown behaviour. Very aloof character. 😂

This was the opening track of their debut album in 1989. That brooding base line that slowly faded in. The superb little solos of John Squires guitar. That sublime swagger of Ian Browns vocals. The problem is that Ian Brown is really bad singing live. This is one of his best performances that I have seen and that is probably because he was obviously more concerned with what was going on off stage than his actual vocals. I was there at the Reading Festival in 1996 when I heard this live for the first time. That base line. That swagger. When he started to sing the crowd was pleading with him to stop singing and to just let Mani and Reni solo.

The Smiths also attribute Panic and The Hand that Rocks the Cradle to being written less than a mile from the pub. Tyson Fury, Ricky Hatton, Steven Spieblerg (in the 80's), countless ex and present Manchester United and numerous other Premier League footballers, Rugby World Cup winners, England Rugby Captain's, England Cricketers, European PGA Golfers, Soap Stars etc visit the pub, several on a regular basis. Okay, BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE I’ve seen is The Stone Roses, Fools Gold live at Heaton Park... 13mins long and a massive jam out session kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIPWqKuuiZh7h5o Oh and I GUARANTEE you’ve never seen a crowd like it.... They waited about 15 years for this gig and it shows. It’s worth watching just to see a crowd smash down the walls to break an entry and climbing on the ice cream van😂 Generally speaking though, Ian Brown’s vocals ruin their live gigs, but in the studio he sounds like an angel!

The best Stone Roses vid, if you can access it, is Fools Good, Heaton Park, from the Made of Stone Documentary, truly epic.

Try and find one of the live gigs from Manchester 2012. The whole city was bliss! Total love everywhere. Plus the original line up has the best musicians of their time.

Would like to know what year at T in the park that set is from? Mind seeing him one year around 2005/06 and he walked off earlier after arguing with the sound engineer, came back out and played the drums for a bit then left again. The crowd felt short changed and the atmosphere started turning nasty.
