It's understandable why men wouldn't want to give up their name, it's like giving up a part of your own identity. What's not understandable however is how men can just hide behind tradition and expect women to make exactly the sacrifice they are too afraid to make. Ask yourself why it is, that you want to keep your name, and then think of your wife. Wouldn't she feel the exact same way? Is she somehow less of a person than you? If you expect your wife to take your name, you have to be willing to take hers, else you proove that you're either a coward or a misogynist.

Also taking the last name might be a bit different over there, my sister's husband is a banker from England and his last name is hyphenated with his previous wife's name, this was for business reasons though since she was successful as well and her last name helped increase the value of his business. I don't like the progressive culture so many are raising their children in, I think it's going to lead to a lot of unnecessary heartache and conflict as people get older and realize that biology does matter and that 1000yr old traditions did have some purpose and utility behind them.
