I met Ian at the Lucky Lounge where he was playing one day, and thought we had a nice talk. He did mention a few run ins with the major figure in Faces, but showed his wonderful ability. I say I thought we had a nice talk. I bought one of his CDs, and he signed it for me. When I looked at it more closely a few days later, he had written--To a Real Twat. Oh well....I will chalk it up to his sense of humour. He will always be one of my favorite keyboard players.

Years ago on rainy Saturday, in the UK, and in the early days of having a pc, internet and email, I wandered across Ian’s website, Macs Pages I think. It had an email, exploring this new tech for some reason I sent one requesting the chords to Debris being a novice guitar player, and a Faces fan since a boy. He was in Austin, Texas, half a world away. Within an hour, he replied. Giving chord sequence, and an explanation of the song Ronnie Lane wrote as in this video. I was totally overwhelmed by this new tech and more so the fact that a hero of mine thousands of miles away had taken the time to respond. It’s now in a frame on the wall.

This is wicked ive been jamming on this song..my dad played the small faces and faces to me ...and slim chance...loads of stuff as a kid ..and finding this is great as i now can jam along to this beutiful key work and vocal by the legend.great stuff

I heard that Rod Stewart had Ian's keyboard for a while, and when Ian got it back, Rod had sent him a storage bill.. come on, man.. anyway, this performance was great. I hear people tell stories of meeting Ian in a bar in Texas near where he lived, and hanging out and talking with him, and how he was a really personable guy, with lots of great stories, and I just turn green with envy. I should've been there, too ! Sorry he is gone, great underrated musician

I am crying watching this. Magic music. Great stories told. Ronnie and Ian were great. And, as he says here Faces went on to tour with Mick Hucknall who was surprisingly a good fit.

Debris, is such a beautiful song, one of so many. Ronnie gave up part of his soul to everything he wrote that's what makes them special. As brilliant as the Faces were I still believe that the Small Faces (minus Steve Marriott) would have succeeded without giving Rod Stewart a break.

‘April Fool’ is another classic Ronnie Lane song, shamefully underplayed on the radio and I agree with Mac here, no one seems to speak about Ronnie. He definitely should be in the Hall of Fame - there was a gentleness and innocence within his music - I’m biased obviously having lived in Seventh Avenue but he was a one off was Ronnie..
