Remarkable, aerial footage of the disaster. With the gentle pace and no editing viewers have the opportunity to take in the full scope of Ian's aftermath at North Port. Not rushed 'for time' as with some of the newscasts. Five days and nights without power; oh my. With streets and roads flooded, even with your good-intentioned plan to buy a generator and groceries (if a store is even open) or additional fuel for the generator you already are using, even if you could get your water logged car / truck started you couldn't even get to the end of the block; perhaps, maybe not as far as the end of the driveway -- it's that bad. Re this captivating 11 minutes, "thank you" to the pilot, camera operator and NBC2 News' anchors who each spoke / reported informatively with caring words while using sincere, sympathetic tones.

My mom and dad lived in Northport for years. It was a quiet little town in those days. They were fairly close to 41 and had a lovely home. I definitely don’t remember all these mobile homes. I’m very sorry people are suffering so much. I lived in Venice for 20 years but moved to NC in 2020. I miss FL but not the hurricanes.

Exit 191 I believe. The more we watch the more we see just how vast and exhausting the severe damage that occurred in so many different and widespread areas, and the extent of the enormous recovery being undertaken. And it's basically shut down the whole southwest coast economy.

Thank you for your valuable work. Your footage showed Nokomis, n.e. of Venice, two new communities, Vicenza and Venice Woodlands. Retention ponds performed as they should. VW flooded only at extreme east end near Jackson. Jackson shows flooding, but Border Rd looks to be clear. The water in the ponds north of Mistiflower is very close to the backs of the homes. Only one home on Baneberry halfway complete. Roofs from both Meritage and Toll Bros houses in Venice Woodlands look ok. Same for Vicenza next door.

I had no cell no power no running water and family up north were hysterical I died. Lol. They sent rescue team out for me. I lost few shingles and all of Southwest Florida trees landed in my back yard!! Lol. I'm lucky because my neighbors across street looks like a nuke hit it!!! TV doesn't do justice. Salford, Sumpter, some of Tropicaire, Narcissist, and Ulman are flooded still. Lots of fallen trees have power lines mangled in them. Oct 3 In the estates in North Port some people can’t yet return to school or work because once can get out, they need a day or two to bathe and rent cars, etc. Some need to find hotels near their jobs. Then there is residential property damage that must be managed. Just sayin.

OMG. The anchor's commentary just shows how out of touch people are. The reality is, developers and county commissioners allowed greed to trump logic. These neighborhoods are flooded because, well, much of S. Florida is SWAMP, WETLANDS and lowland areas. You can plainly tell watching this footage that many of these developments were put in low lying areas with cypress heads. Soil scientists, in the pocket of developers go out and decide how much of a property can be built on while leaving the absolute minimal amount of wetlands as is allowed. The anchor who is talking about "water features"...so dumb. Wetlands are there to help with flooding when it happens. Just because it doesn't happen all the time doesn't mean these areas don't serve a purpose. My heat breaks for all the people who unknowingly became victims of greedy developers and complicit government co-horts who are now living this nightmare.

Have we crossed the point of no return in terms of damaging the planet? There is no such point. We need to trust that our thought, which is our greatest quality, can change nature. We only need to understand the direction to which we should aim our thoughts. What should we think about? What condition or state should we aspire to and ask for? In order to save our planet, we should think about positive human connections. That is, how can we, in our connections, keep nature safe? How can we all together protect our world? If we truly wish to better our planet, then we should see people holding a concern for how to positively connect everywhere that we look. It has nothing to do with recycling or other activities that we commonly associate with as being sustainable. If we come closer to and consider each other, that we will reach an entirely organic, perfectly connected and round state, then the negative forces will disappear from the world. We need to understand that if we start thinking better about each other, then the planet will recover from all harm, because our thoughts are the strongest force in nature. Likewise, our negative thoughts about each other are entirely to blame for damaging the planet. That is why the more we recycle and invest in energies and activities that we commonly think of as being sustainable, the worse our planet becomes. Nothing will work to benefit us until we reach a state where our attitude changes toward each other for the better to protect and improve our planet.

This is all well and good, except most people needing rescue or resources don't have power to see this, most don't have cell service, it's out in a lot of places. You need to get the info printed and put out for people. Drop it from a chopper.

drop from a chopper straight into the water? There is a lot of help there and more on the way...Food pods are there, Starlink is there....all is being done to help the residents of this community. I have family in this town and they are getting out for food and supplies power is back on and clean up has started. National guard is there to assist.

Unfortunately many Realtors (what they call themselves) advertise ONLY their names and their personal cellphone numbers.

DeSantis and Rubio turned their backs on other hurricane victims ... Now they're lobbying for compassion ... (When you tempt fate - you invite KARMA ...)

This is not the time to point fingers and show hate. There is no such thing as karma. Karma is works of satin. Jesus will return. This is just the beginning. The world is evil. And corrupt..Jesus said, for those with out sin cast the first stone. Can we say , we are with out sin? Don’t judge but be judged! But I don’t hear nothing about Biden? Only God can judge, not man. Maybe we are being judged now, this just might be the beginning of the wraith of God.

And it's just the beginning of the last time. Many people refused God's Law. Vatican's pope still bow down and speak to statues :) of Fatima, instead of praying to Lord Jesus Christ. As he sacrificed Ukraine & Russia to her, that's why it doesn't help. And he still teach to celebrate Sunday 1st day of the week, instead of Sabbath 7th day according to Law of God. That's why we have got all these issues. So we need to repent & go back to the true worship of God.
