you can clearly see how much they still loved each other, especially Ian loved Nina more than anything. Nina was trying to act normal but you can see that even after they broke up, Nina had still a lot of tention when he was touching her or even talking to her. I have no idea why these two broke up, and I will never understand why two persons that are in love with each other, need to pretend they are not and keep living with regret and the thought that maybe it could have worked out. I am sure Ian will always regret marrying Niki and breaking up with Nina, and I am sure Nina will always feel a little pain in her heart when she will see Ian. Just like when Damon died and Elena said to Alaric "You know the promise that love could be eternal, well, I had that with Damon, which means that for the rest of my life I'm gonna have a hole in my heart where he's supposed to be". In real life that will always be true for both of them, Nina and Ian.
