Fell in love with the song when I watched the movie and needed to know who wrote it. So pleased to find out it was you! I was adopted and worked my way through a lot of stuff to find my purpose after working through the feelings of being “discarded.” God is good and has a plan for us all!

I was adopted and had a nice childhood. Then one day in 1987 as I entered the first day of my 7th grade year my mother who adopted myself and my sister passed away. Our lives did a 360 from what we knew. I’m 49 years old today and am a very different person. I thank God for his love and his open arms.

My dad was the Scout Master, and wanted to put me in a home for unwed teens, so it really hit home for me. 💔😭🤧 Ps... you did a GREAT job. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story. Ian I just finished watching Discarded Things. It took me three days to watch it because I watch tv after I go to bed at night, tired and worn out from work. I watched enough to know I liked the movie before falling asleep so I would continue watching the next night. This morning about 3 am is when it got to your song. Your song woke me up! Beautiful music wakes me up instead of putting me to sleep.😀 I started scrambling around in the covers to find the remote to rewind back to the start of your scene. When your character walks to the piano and starts to play, the hair on the back of my neck stood up! It was so beautiful it brought tears to my old eyes. I’m 67 years old and am still so moved by music that it just energizes me. You are very gifted, don’t stop what you’re doing! Music is magic. The ability to write something new, that no one has heard before, that is so beautiful, is a gift from God! Carry on Son. Do well.♥️

Ian, God bless you and your musical journey. "Discarded things" is beautifully done. My wife and I just watched your performance, and it touched our hearts. We have worked with several children over the years who have gone through many of the same situations as seen in the film. Our heart is for youth and children, so this film and your character stirred our hearts. Well done. We have been given the unique opportunity to adopt, as did my brother and his wife, out of difficult situations and we will carry your song in our hearts wherever life leads. Keep up the wonderful work.

Ian, it takes a lot to post and talk about something like this, and the fact that you care so much makes it even more special. This allows us to connect with and see the real you, we can relate to the raw feelings and dedication to the art that you make. It helps people realize that the way you’re brought up isn’t who you have to be and life is what you decide of it. Thank you for being real and showing emotion in all you do because it truly does make a difference in the way we perceive the music.

Hi Ian. I actually just viewed and enjoyed the movie. It has been advertised on TV and I happen to like the lead actress. But your song touched my very spirit. I've felt discarded and you put words to it. It touched me so much that I was going to record it straight from the TV to my phone but then I got the bright idea to go to KZbin and Praise the Lord, it was there. I praise God for Him giving you the words to express the pain and joy of that song. It is amazing.

I taught continuation high school for three years and this song described every one of my students. When I saw the movie, I cried through most of it. When your character started singing this song, so many students flashed through my mind, I was reminded again of how precious those kids are to me. They were labelled "throw away kids" that nobody wanted. I wanted them. My only hope is that they felt that they were a "beautifully woven discarded things" when they left my classroom.

It’s a beautiful song. I downloaded it on Apple Music and I’ve been listening to it frequently. You have immense talent, especially for someone your age. I introduced one of my best friends to you, and she absolutely loves your music. I’ve told a lot of my other friends about your stuff as well, and I hope they take my advice and check it out because damn dude, you’re really good. As a fellow musician, it’s hard putting yourself out there. Heck I haven’t done anything more than play keys and bass at my church, and look at you promoting your art! That takes guts! You’ve got the talent and the creativity, you just need a little bit of extra confidence to put yourself out there because you have everything else, people just need to discover you. In the meantime, I’ve got your back 🤘🏻

This song has had an amazing impact on my life and it may have a different meaning to me but ultimately it’s about being discarded. I grew up with a single mother and suffered abandonment issues with my dad my whole life. Got married and was married for 15 years and I was abandoned by my husband. If it hadn’t been for God I wouldn’t be here. I found healing in worship music. Through worship music God was able to heal my wounds. Thank you for making such and impactful song.
