Hello Ian...I will be building my own shed too. You did a great job on a video along with a cool choice of music. You accomplished your goal building a shed on a budget. I really don't understand why people have to add negative comments. One thing for sure in life its impossible to make everyone happy. Thank you for the tips and keeping it simple.

Looks great buddy! Only thing I would have done different is ripped down quarter or 1/8 inch 1x6 nailing strips to keep the siding away from the ply wood to give it a little room to breath to help with future moisture issues

Another great video, looks great! Shou Sugi Ban might have been a great finish and protection for the cladding but you probably might have had to do that before it went up, great video again though door amazing find and the vertical battons really finish it off nicely. Cheers from London England 👍 Ps. Hoping to build something myself with like zero budget literally going to try for like pallets and stuff few free bricks or blocks to set it on there's a small 8x4 concrete base down already Im going to just use and expand it using some corner blocks and have the base under the middle or one side and hope for the best being it's just a shed/workshop/summerhouse/man cave.. I got some free double glazed windows few years back about 20! and 2 sets of patio doors and frames! With all the Hardwear! So I can use them and I got them for free so who knows? It's all been sitting there for a couple years and the double glazed windows are literally just the panes so need to frame them aswell (I'm sure some will have blown by now) and never done anything like that before, but got a nice new router, jigsaw, hand saws, drill/driver etc, so wish me luck cos EVERYTHING costs 2-4 times as much here in England than in the U.S. and is half the quality wood wise etc lol 😅🤦🏻🙏

I'm fortunate in that I'm building a smaller shed -- only about 4x9 -- and my daughter and her husband are tearing down a derelict house that I can salvage from. I'm gonna have to find (buy?) some pressure=treated wood for the foundation frame, but everything else will be freebies, including some solid wood siding. The double-hung windows in the derelict house are too big for a shed, but I can take two sashes and make casement windows that open outward and let the air flow through

Great, to the point, video! Entertaining too! BTW... you look like John-boy Walton... just need the mole. I'm just saying. Lol... I'm finishing up on my shed, here in Alberta, before the snow comes. I'm in a race with the weather. It has a 12-foot beam in the center, giving me a bit of a loft space up top. What was I thinking?! Doing the roof was suicidal... I had angels helping me because it was too steep and really sketchy to do on my own. No help. Plus I have tendonitis... really sketchy doing all of this. So I was looking for siding ideas. I'm making it up as I go and on a tight budget. In the gable space, I'm doing shingles. I may not have time to finish the siding before winter, so I've wrapped it to at least winterize the osb board from getting damaged by the winter weather. I would have videoed it, but no one to do that as I go... the roofing would have been interesting to watch. I look forward to more of your videos!

Hey Ian quick question: nailing the wood won't make it split??? I pre drill my planks and screw them on. But it's too time consuming. I'm just worried of splitting my wood planks over time using nails.
@ProfitPioneersRETV5 жыл бұрын
I didnt have any problem with the wood splitting it probably depends on the type of wood you will use

I got it from my old job. We took it off of a really nice million dollar house that was replacing all of it's siding.

Good job but external planking should really be horizontal and fixed in one position only to allow the wood to shrink and expand to prevent splitting

Wow great job today 3 years later as you know the price of 2x4 and wood in general is triple so no one in the construction industry give away nothing for free that game is over for now but to those that have land and trees building a sawmill is a Great idea or buy one lots of people are given away logs or tree's for free if you cut them so hey little bit of work but free so all that is left is the roof and you can do shingles and if the only money you spend is on the metal sheet it will be real cheap today a wood shed goes for $3500
