19:36 "In the Anglican church... bidding prayers are sometimes inserted into the liturgy. They tend to sound like a summary of the morning's news, usually with all the BBC prejudices still attached - telling God that there is work to do, and he'd better pull his finger out and get on with it". Brilliant!

This is really a crucial subject and addressed by a wise man. It is such a SHAME it has barely a few views. However an only view suffices and would justify this JEWEL. Thank you at the Ian Ramsay Centre for sharing this.

This is incredible. Deserves more views. Thanks to everyone involved! (Or just for uploading!)

I think the love you count can be explained buy this video's offending the sensibilities of Fundamentalist while being beyond the scope of your run-of-the-mill new atheist and their Sunday school understanding of religion

Yes indeed. It is close to a tragedy, and it says much about this world, that it has not millions of views. Still I believe we must be grateful to be able to watch it, and learn from Sir Roger.

In my experience, when God answers a prayer in the affirmative, you absolutely get what you asked for and then some! With perfect timing and shooting about 20 ducks in a row and ringing into the future in unexpected ways while being tied into the past all while occurring in a specific present moment that in a way stands outside time. Perhaps one day I will watch the above video beyond the first few moments as Mr. Scruton is worth a listen.

Swinburne and Scruton together is the best.
@pamelacorbett87743 жыл бұрын
I disagree. It was a display of sheer ego on the part of Swinburne which took up the limited time in which other questions could have been asked. As Gabor Mate says ‘Just ask your question. Leave the grandstanding to me.’

“As far as there is any wisdom in the Christian religion, it is contained in the Book of Common Prayer.” (25:30) I’m far from sure that is wholly true, but it is not a bad starting point.

I think he is adorable. And every time I watch him on video, I do have the urge to go run up, and comb his hair. I call it 'bedroom hair.' You know, he rolled out of bed, and didn't bother with combing that wonderful hair of his. I have no idea why.

no. he looks more intellectual with messy hair.

Maybe he is a 'Cool Dude'? Actually, I think he has only just got out of bed and was late to deliver his lecture!

@@ObjectiveBob I see it as the opposite of intellectual. Maybe, since some thought of him as a snob, he figured he would go for the casual 'hollywood' bedroom hair. You just don't bother combing it.
