wait isnt gross secondary productivity the total gain so the formula would simply be food eaten + faecal loss rather than food eaten - faecal loss because that is net ?

its food eaten - faecal loss because GSP is the amount thats assimilated in an organism. net would be food eaten - faecal loss - respiration
