Thanks for the video, I recently got one through a friend and mostly being an acoustic guy had little idea how it all worked ( particularly that metal switch-from what I have heard is subdividing the neck pickup (?). Its a struggle for my ear to hear much of a difference. Since I bought it from a jazz player it came with nice flatwound strings that sound jazzy, and I have been wondering how it would sound with bluesier strings. You gave me the answer! Sounds great. You certainly gave it a thorough going over. Thanks again

I love this guitar ... Once you get it setup .. The demo was done with the factory setup. After the demo...... I lowered the string action height down to .06 on the Low E @ the 12th and .055 on the high E I did have to cut the nut a little to get the first fretted note right and reset the intonation after changing the strings and lowering the action. BUT she is just a great playing guitar... I installed 10 -46's and sounds great. Thanks for commenting and sharing your story on your AMH. You'll love it once you get it setup for your playing style.

You made me think taking it to my repair guy for a going over might be money worth spending. One thing I noticed was some notes are louder than others, sometimes by a lot. Not sure if thats fixable or just something to contend with.

Once the nut is cut right and the intonation is right... The sound of the guitar is just better. The notes across the fret board will be in correct. anytime you change the action or change string types you should do a intonation check. Very guitar is different, don't be afraid to really go outside the box on your amp settings. I mean really sweep the knobs and see what it does...Write down your settings now so you can go back to them. and just play around with your controls. As far as taking to a tech... Play the guitar for a little. Get a feel for this guitar. Then make that call. Remember everything you do to it changes the feel and sound. Thats why I said setup to your style of playing. And if you don't know yet .. its ok .. Play it and make little changes and you will find out what you like and don't like. Thats is the fun part ! playing ! @@petromoderne

The Best Budget Hollow body is the Firefly 338Pro. Go to Guitar Gardens and check them out... You do have to pay with PayPal... But I have never had a problem ordering from them. I have order over 10 guitars from them with no problems. Most of time it's about a week out once ordered. You should be able to buy the guitar and pay for shipping for under 250.00 dollars ! You can always buy the Ibanez. You can't go wrong with it... It's just a well-made guitar !

Also worth mentioning..I've read and seen that this guitar is actually full hollow body..part center block...imo..I think that's why it responds so well when you dig in..the top vibrates a little more..and breaks up the right amount for playing some killer juke house blues

That sounds right . . . the top can move more . .

Thank You ! ! ! ! I have a review of the Firefly 338pro you may want to look at. I think the AMH90 is a better finished guitar than the 338pro. BUT it is 1/3 the cost. The build QC on the Ibanez is great ... just a well-made guitar. I got mine with the Factory case so I knew it would fit the body and neck right. Both are made well.

@@DominionFretWorks Is that chameleon blue 338 available anywhere? I'm struggling to source one, but based on yet another thorough review, it seems like a fantastic value and fits my aesthetic since it is this prussian blue that really drew me to the AMH90 in the first place.

@@matthew_schrepel They have the chameleon green @ Guitar Gardens for the Firefly 338 ... The Chameleon Blue sold out about 3 weeks ago. In the photos @ guitar gardens the Chameleon Green looks blotchy... dunno. It's a hard color to make even... The blue ones were great ! here is a link to the green one guitarsgarden.com/collections/semi-hollow-body-electric-guitars/products/firefly-ff338pro-full-size-semi-hollow-body-electric-guitar-blue-yellow-color The AHM90 you can get @ Sweetwater right now in the blue ... www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AMH90PBM--ibanez-artcore-expressionist-amh90-hollowbody-electric-guitar-prussian-blue-metallic

Curious..how this compares as set-up to Epiphone sheraton?....or the Sire H7..?...and does it have a center block ..or is it a true hollowbody?
@DominionFretWorks Жыл бұрын
I'm Sorry ... I don't think I've had a chance to review and go over the Epiphone's models. Most have a block right under the bridge ... The Hollow body units. So the bridge has some meat to mount too. The Semi's most of the time have a core block going from the neck to the bridge mounting area. I have seen some of these having Kref's along their upper and lower mounting locations... Dunno maybe this helps with the tone ?? I can say that I have heard good things about some of the new models Epiphone is making. Just haven't went out and played them yet. The Firefly 338pro I did a review on... and WOW ... I would use the Firefly out doing gigs. Is it as nice as the Ibanez.... ah... no . . . They have done some round overs here and there to make it easier to build and stay in their price point. But it plays great and sounds great. It does have a great fit and finish... Just an easier guitar to build. The Ibanez just has a harder body line to make and do well and they have done just that. The fit and finish on it is great. I would go out and play all the model you can find... Don't think about the brand... There are so many good hollow and semi hollow's out there right now. Like Gretsch, they also make some nice models at a great price point. Hagstrom, maybe give them a look... Eastman, D'Angelico ... Man you can go down a Rabbit hole . . .
