I received my AS93 FM-AYS just about two weeks ago, I am over the moon with it. I have another guitar that is a partial semi-hollow (a single f-hole) and this is my first true semi-hollow guitar and I can say that I am so happy I purchased mine. I did not see this video first, I actually got to play a couple in some shops first before buying, I must say, the one I received is the best one I've played yet. I believe I have only scratched the surface of what this guitar can do, I will be playing it a lot more in the coming days, weeks, months and years.

Best video about both models, as far as I am concerned. I watched many videos to AF95, AS93, GB10SE and LGB30 because I couldn't decide which one to look for in the shops. At last I decided on a AF95DA to following my Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor II after nearly 30 years.

I have the cheaper AS73 and its pickups, whose name I don't remember, are really fantastic. It's overall such a solid guitar at 450 that I got rid of a 1600 dollar tele. May get 1 or 2 more AS models because combined they're worth a higher end Fender or Gibson. I'd like to see what I could do with a brighter maple/ebony config, while the AS73 is basswood (aka linden)/laurel. Few AS reviews do them good justice, as the full duration is spent on that kind of warmed over jazz rock simply because of how they look. But I can say that mine can do the full gamut of music from thrash metal with loud pinch harmonics to compressed Nashville clean tones. The humbuckers can be dramatically altered with a flat head to customize the tone. No need to replace Ibanez buckers, would almost double the cost of the guitar. I like humbuckers with a single coily character and found it easy to achieve that. Just dropping info for shoppers..

If you want an Ibanez ES style in a smaller body, the AM93 is well worth a look. Has Florentine cutaways. I have the vintage yellow quilt. Only issue is the gold hardware can oxidize, even in the case. Got to clean mine up. The neck, tones and overall look are amazing. Huge bang for the buck, about five different finishes out there, including the new Ebony Madagascar, look around.

Nice, as we say in Oz. I like the 93 better as it handles distortion/overdrive/gain better than the 95 which still sounds like a hollow body trying to do something it isn't made for. The 93 may not have the tone quality of the 95 when played clean, but for me that's not an issue as I always have a bit of overdrive for the sort of songs I play and nobody's going to notice when I do play a quieter song as the 93 still sounds nice. I think I'm getting a 93, though to be honest I'd like a left-handed 53 (hard to find in Australia) as it can rock out with like an SG yet still has a nice tone when played clean. Thanks for the video from 3 years ago, it has been helpful.

I’ve owned mine for 23 years now. I’ve owned an Epiphone and a Gibson 335 and my Ibanez Artcore is just plain better in all aspects except for gaining value. It’s setup perfectly, when my Gibson arrived I was in disbelief that they would ship a guitar with such a poor setup. They must have been thinking that I was a slide player because the strings were at least 1/4 of an inch above the fretboard. Seriously, I was in disbelief, sure I had it professionally set up and yes it played better, but after that I really think the i’ve been is pickups sounded better to my ears. Yes, I still only Gibson, but only for future value purposes. My Ibanez is still my go to daily player. It can do blues, classic rock, country, jazz and I was surprised how well it does metal. It really is the Guitar of Jack trades and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Those pickups sounds great. I have the same guitar. Although i have heard that they are not the same MIJ Super 58 pickups like in some more expensive Ibanez guitars. Does anybody knows something more about this? This is probably a situation like Seymour Duncan have with those DUNCAN DESIGNED lower budget pickups.
@farkasgabor34914 жыл бұрын
Duncan designed pickups have prescriptions only for some elements; wire gauge, number of turns, magnet material category ( as A2, A5, ceramic etc.) bobbin and magnet dimensions but not for the magnet material composition , slug and screw material, cover nickel silver composition. Therefore the 101 model e.g. can be almost sh1, but not 100% equivalent. The Ibanez super 58 is exactly the same wherever it is made.
@bertonedes4 жыл бұрын
@@farkasgabor3491 nice to hear that! Thank you.
@farkasgabor34914 жыл бұрын
bertonedes To be very pecise there was a period 15-20 yrs ago when they indicated s58c with ceramic magnets. Today the s58 made with alnico 3 and the s58 custom with alnico 5 . Bridge 7,8kohm , neck 6,8 kohm so they have relative low output ideal for jazz, the custom versions are more for semi hollow because the alnico 5 is stronger in power and fatter in sound.
@farkasgabor34914 жыл бұрын
Today they make only the non custom version with alnico 3
