Just bought this guitar second hand. What a beast! Love it!
@MakeLifeExtraordinary2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the video. I just bought one of these, as one of my guitar players got one of the lower end ‘S’ series guitars and I loved the weight and playability. I decided to go higher end with mine, because it’s going to be a studio guitar and I love the fact that essentially you can get any sound out of this guitar you want with it’s ability to switch between active and passive pickups, which is absolutely amazing. This guitar is truly a studio player‘s dream. Not to mention, pretty much every feature it has is of the higher end variety, which at this price point is absolutely stunning. It doesn’t hurt that the chameleon paint makes it look bad ass just in case you want to take it and play out with it. This truly is a plug and play guitar. Which is what I was looking for, because I truly didn’t want to buy something and then have to change out the pick ups and tuners and everything else. ibanez really needs to advertise these better. Because, I think once any guitar player picks it up and feels how light it is and then enjoys the playability and The range of options you have with sounds… Which truly allows you to go from a jazzy sound to twangy country, punchy alternative, the entire way to shredding with that Eddie Van Halen kind of feel. Which is pretty amazing when you look at the price and overall quality of this guitar. There really isn’t much on the market at its price that matches it. Not with the feature set and ebony fretboard. Not to mention, once again, the incredible paint job on it. Which is why I think Ibanez truly needs to be pushing these guitars by showing a variety of musicians playing a variety of different genres of music. To show the versatility and quality. Again, thank you for the great video. This guitar is going to allow me to thin out the herd in the studio and get rid of a good amount of other instruments that I either don’t use or are going to be pointless to have after getting this.

hows the sustain? I used to have a Ibanez Sabre ( S670FM ) as my first guitar, but the sustain was terrible.
@MakeLifeExtraordinary2 жыл бұрын
@@bernieboi8943 The sustain is phenomenal. Again, it is one of the first guitars where switching between the pick ups is like picking up a different guitar each time. With sounds completely different. The first position is perfect for endless sustainability in rock leads. Second position, rock rhythm. Third, a mix that is one of my favorite positions because it is EQ’d out perfectly for studio and can be used for clean or dirty. The fourth position sounds like an acoustic with the highs scooped. The fifth is my favorite and it offers up perfection for clean or dirty, great sustain and another one that is EQ’d damn near perfect. I don’t know how Ibanez puts out these guitars so cheap. Seriously. The best guitar I’ve ever used and I love the light weight and fast neck. It makes playing at a dream and I never get fatigued. Buy one, you won’t regret it.

After 2 years, how is it going? Do you still have that guitar? Have you noticed any drawback?
@MakeLifeExtraordinary4 ай бұрын
@@jacopoabx3460 I do and I still love it. Nothing beats the weight, which is almost nothing. On top of that, it plays so incredible and sounds so good. You just wonder how they could sell them so cheap. Because, I’ve played $3000 plus guitars and have never gotten any enjoyment and incredible sound out of them that I do with this. To the point where I stopped buying guitars. Because I don’t need anything else in the studio. I wish they made a Bass that was the same weight or at least something close to it. I would also love to see an acoustic, both six and 12 string, line of S series guitars. Would love to see that chameleon blue on an acoustic. Again, both six string and 12 string.

Very little info about this guitar anywhere. I bought myself one 5 months ago. The are some minor visual flaws: polishing compound residue in cavities, couple of little scratches on fretboard. Volume-pot feels flimsy especially white pulled up. Shortly after purchase 5-way switch worked only on the neck-pickup, but that was fixed with electronic spray. I live in Finland and during the winter fretboard shrunk so I had to file fret ends a bit (very common thing in this climate). Also frets themselves were VERY rough in the beginning but improved this a little playing and later I polished them to perfection. So what do I think about the guitar now? I love it!! This is my first S-serie Ibanez and I really like the body shape, very comfortable in any position. It's also the most light-weight guitar I've had. I was sceptic about the "exotic" woods but all in all the guitar is acoustically very resonant, you can really feel it in your body. Playability if excellent, the neck is very comfortable, apart from left unpolished, no issues with frets. Tonewise it's a versatile instrument, although I see it primarily as a metal axe. Fishmans are not my favorite pickups though, I must say. They do suit many styles and especially metal, but I think they lack some character... Anyway, final words: it took some work but at this point the guitar was easily worth the money (1098€).

Hey man, first of nice review, so nice in fact that it tipped me into buying this guitar instead of a Schecter C-1 Apocalypse ;) I have two things that I would like to know though which I sadly cannot try myself as there is no S-Type in stock anywhere near me... - Does it have neck dive while sitting or standing? - Can I connect a cable with 90 degree connector (like a Ibanez NS10L cable has) into the output jack? Thanks a lot! \m/

Well, you can connect a 90° cable but it doesn't look good lol. The S series has perfect neck/body balance. I have a 2011 S570MQM.

@@rafaelceottomusic6918 I just got my hands on a '93 S540FM a few days ago. Tried it with the angled cable and quickly realized that ^^ Not only does it look kinda goofy, it also is not really secure in there, accidently bumping it and turning it to far will unplug it from the jack (might be due to the 27 year old jack tho), and it is in the way of the whammy bar. In the end I just decided to flip the cable round and use the straight connector on my guitars and the angled one on my amp ^^

So would you recommend this guitar at this price point? Or do you prefer something else? I'm looking for versatility, something that sounds nice clean but can also play metal well. I'm also considering a strat or tele, but I love this S series body! What do you think? Thanks for the video!
@shreducator16483 жыл бұрын
Hey, this guitar is definitely a versatile instrument. What I love most about it through is the superior playability. Feels so fluid! I would prefer this guitar all day long. But let me show you a tool that you can use for objective comparison: bit.ly/3qnKKhU Here you can A/B all three guitars recorded under exact same circumstances. This helps you to get the best sounding instrument for you rather than relying on someones elses subjective opinion. Let me know what you think! Cheers, Emanuel

Hi may I ask which guitar you prefer more, this axion label or an LTD Ec-1007 evertune? I'm torn between the two

A little question about that guitar. Can you adjust the height of the middle pickup so it gets out off the way when you want to really pick hard? I really love the S series but you can't seem to get the nice ones in an HH configuration

Great review, I do love it when guitar testers on KZbin go above and beyond and write pretty much a full song for their demo. Would you be able to give me an idea of what an earth you're doing at 1:35 ? I've never seen any shape like that and it sounds cool as hell. I suppose the rhythm also contributes making it sound so unique. It sounds kinda like a diminished scale to me, and combined with the rhythm it reminds me of the solo in an All Shall Perish song. I only found one guy on KZbin that has covered it so I assume it's a tricky solo ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnzddWx_pdSfr9E if you're interested). I've only been playing a couple of years myself so my skill level is nowhere near what is needed to play licks like yours at the full speed but I do love trying to understand anything that sounds cool and I can always practice it slowly to start with once I understand what is actually going on.
