I feel like that modern, punchy tone can make a great metal tone imo, but I love that modern ounchy tone because it really, to me is so versatile. It works for funk, jazz, metal, pop, anything really. Now some tones work better than others for different sounds, but to me, the modern punchy tone will always be my favorite bass tone. This is definitely the 5 string I want.

It's because the neck is incredibly solid and stiff String tension is related to the instrument's physics rather than the scale length chosen. The more the neck is solid, the more the string tension is going to be stable and the notes balanced

That's just straight up wrong. String tension is related to the scale, the pitch, and the mass of the string. Nothing else. What people don't understand is a 32" scale is basically equivalent to the 1st fret of a 34" scale. A 32" scale is like tuning a 34" down a half step and capoing at the 1st. It's not a huge difference in tension, only a couple pounds.

That's a great demo! I put Aguilar's in mine and then put flatwounds on it for an old fashioned thumpy tone. They are very versatile basses!

@@1710Lysifer.Musikant DCB6 D4. That's the 6 string version of the DCB humbucker. You need the 6 string version because of the slant of the pickups. The "D4" part means it matches the shape of the original pickups. I'm very pleased with them.

Sounds beautiful! Even the B string sounds great despite its 32" scale length: bassier just like you'd expect from a short scale, but not muddy!

The B string is a 35” scale. Nothing shorty scale about this bass. Nothing.

@@terranceeverhart4288 You're thinking of the EHB 1005MS. This is the EHB 1005SMS. The extra S means short scale. The B string is indeed 32" scale on this model and the G string is 30" scale.

I got a brand new 2021 Ibanez EBH1005SMS-EMM bass a few days ago. It seems to have a manufacturing defect. When the EQ switch is set to ON, attenuating the Treble Boost/Cut control does nothing. It’s as if that circuit is not connected inside the EQ. I’ve been searching through videos on KZbin to see if anyone else is commenting about the Treble Boost/Cut control on their EBH1005SMS bass not working, but so far have not found any documentation or demonstration of the issue. Does your EBH1005SMS bass' Treble Boost/Cut control work correctly?

Hi! Partly because of your Sire P5 video I bought one and am very happy with it! Thanks! But I have swapped out the pickups for EMG GZ P's. And now I am looking for a modern, lightweight headless bass for my classic stable. I am deciding between the Cort Space 5 but there are so few real user reviews on them and the Ibanez EHB 1005MS (not the short one) What do you think of the Ibanez 1005? For live work, as a workhorse. Pros and cons, quality? Thanks!

I would also like to know the answer to this question. But my ears tell me there is some processing to make it sounds like this. Usually DI signals have a lot more dynamics than this. That said, whatever they did sounds A+.
