Stoked that this was a fuji reissue. Also that they used the original spec wizard neck. Such a killer axe. They are very hard to find even now.

I used to own a ‘91 original back in the day. I regret selling it. Great guitar. There is something special about these 565’s that the other RG models lack of. Great review and lucky for us to hear the two gens of 565s back to back. The original has a darker and more in your face sound which I prefer. Thank you.

Great video specially the intro. I have had mine for about a month and have not put it down. Mine was sold as "flawed" because of a very slight neck pocket crack. BUT as it turns out i have the same issues with the paint running along the top edge of the body. really only shows in certain light. But something to be aware of when purchasing one of these. Even with the flaws still an amazing guitar.

@@alexwalker5645 the RG565 ofc. The only thing I didn't like about them are the colour choices: orange and teal. I got the Emerald Green (teal) one. I like the RG550 Purple Neon but that was about it. The feel of the RG550 kinda feels off, and mind I actually got 2 RG550-PN tried: 1st was when I exchanged it for an LTD M-1, and the 2nd Purple Neon got exchanged with this RG565. They just feel off, and the pickups really sound different on 2 separate RG550 vs the RG565. Lastly, I do kinda get that intimidating vibe on the RG550: true super-shredder with black pickguard, it's like everyone's gonna look at you and expect nothing less. While for the RG565 I could just feel being myself.

I agree with you on the heel for sure. It took me a while to get comfy with the old heel but the AANJ wins in playability. Thankfully most Prestige models are all AANJ so in many cases, it's the successor to the old models.

Neck pickup is not very good, It has a lot of nice punch for cleans but with gain you get this weird scratchy type sound... The bridge pickup is fine tho, I use that for rhythm and lead 95% of the time. Reverse headstock is dope by the way deal with it nerds 😎

Good Review. These are available but you have to hunt for them. I have 3 of them. I got 2 of the emerald green and one orange. They do sound rather thin versus many of my other guitars but this was never a selling feature for Ibanez. It was playability. Just a fun fact, Sweetwater has commissioned Ibanez to do 2 special colors, a blue and a purple in the RG 565. I had an opportunity to buy both but I think the first 2 colors are far superior. If you look in Sweetwater's site you won't see them because the demand far exceeds the availability for those new colors. I must say I much prefer the 5 piece on this build rather than the scarf joint on the original. I had one of the original RG565 emerald greens and modded it but ended up selling it. I really like the new builds.

those blue and vampire special dont look that good, the blue one i thought it was gonna be like the original laser blue but is a darker blue and it doesnt look neon maybe thats why the first 2 colors orange and green look better, theyre true neon color, i dont think the blue and purple are neon why you need to have them in every color tho ? lol imo the best is the orange thats the one i have, i wouldnt mind having the green but is the same guitar just the color makes no sense to me

I wouldn't say there's an advantage but it definitely has a unique look to the configuration haha.
@greekfreak1980
@greekfreak1980 Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, the idea with a rails-type pickup, is to have the best of both worlds of a single coil & a humbucker. You can get a single coil-ish tone, without having the annoying hum noise and it's also more powerful than a normal single coil, for high-gain lead stuff. Check out Andy Timmons, who uses a DiMarzio Cruiser in the neck, for his guitar and what amazing tones he gets out of it.
@stanpopovsky
@stanpopovsky Жыл бұрын
@@greekfreak1980 not the best of both worlds - not fish and not meat. Cruisers have a weak magnet, so they don't sound like humbuckers at all. But I can say that the advantage of mini humbuckers is that they can be installed in a standard Stratocaster pickguard. And on guitars with 24 frets, if it's a neck pickup, the pick doesn't bump into pick-up.

@@IbanezGuy88 Well they still have the Genesis line but they're still just offering those 3 550's. I don't get it.. If they're selling like crazy and a lot of places can't keep them in stock wouldn't you want to build that line up more? Ibanez has me scratching my head lately. These last like 2-3 years, they've been offering pretty much the same stuff, nothing new or inspiring. just boring. And that worries me, cause they're sleeping on what on us bedroom players that are their biggest customers. We're not going to fork out 2 grand for a prestige just to play around in our room with. We're going to buy up the 350 to 550 Rg's those under a grand. And yeah they've offered I think more interesting fixed bridge guitars, but their "floyd" style.. same few guitars they've had for a few years now.. It's sad. I don't get how they can charge 500-700 for an import that comes w/ the DL trem (one of the worst trems ever created IMO) I get why they dropped their quality standards and using the DL trem's and the quantum pups for the cheaper 350-450 Rg's in the 300-400 range, but putting that garbage on 500+ guitars... I'd rather save a couple hundred more and get a Charvel or Kramer that comes w/ Jb's and a floyd 1000. And I spend decades being that Ibanez guy that was true and faithful and talked smack about other brands compared to Ibanez.. But, truth be told these last few years, I've bought Kramers, Jacksons and even Harley Bentons, I purchased one Ibanez in the last 3 years and it was a Jiva10 and the QC on it was the worst i ever received ever. Every fret was super sharp, the frets themselves had to be filed and leveled, the trem collar and the part it screws onto like weren't threaded to match, so it wouldn't screw on. And Jiva 10s arent cheap. Ibanez has really been worrying me lately.

I bought the Rg550 Genesis instead. That reverse headstock is awful.

Yeah, it's such a shame because I still continue to play their guitars mainly because of these reissues/ Genesis line they created. The newer Prestige line doesn't tickle my fancy, and the Premium/ Indonesian guitars are a let down to what the brand's originally known for. At this rate, I might consider playing for another brand in the future, but who knows! 😂

@@IbanezGuy88 same it's all indo junk with fancy finishes and "cool" specs. I just want MIJ quality and the Genesis line is just the perfect deal. I just don't know what other brands are comparable. MIJ Jacksons cost a fortune.

The reissued version sounds flat , empty and to put it mildly ... cheaply. Which , however , is predictable . Such a sound as this new version, in principle, can be obtained by buying some Chinese junk with similar specifications, for about 200 dollars.. And if you could still close your eyes to a clear sound , then working with distortion is what these guitars were actually created for , in the blessed 80s .. And working with distortion is just lousy here.An empty , prickly itch . The original sounds cooler by two heads . Although it appears at the same time ..just a good - quality , genre instrument of its era .

Hi, just got this guitar and I am completely disappointed. Why? The neck connection is a joke! It's thick and not rounded, and you dont´t have real access to the high notes. And I cannot believe that this is not being noticed in the reviews. Apparently this problem does not exist in most other RG models, so I wonder what happened to Ibanez here. This configuration doesn’t make any sense, and this has nothing to do with a shredding guitar!

The Genesis collection goes back to it's original design with the tilt neck joint. You are correct, for some people, they find this very uncomfortable. With others, they can get by with playing the higher notes. That's why with the early to mid 90's they changed the neck joint to the all access neck joint to reduce this problem people were having. I personally can play with either but I hop you find another instrument that helps you.

@@IbanezGuy88 , well, to repeat this crap makes the whole issue even more grotesque. It is a complete lack of common sense and I wonder which idiot is responsible at Ibanez for this. I don´t know what you play, but stuff like Eruption etc is virtually impossible. Again, I feel fooled by all these positive reviews.
