Does it really have a compound radius? It was my understanding that this fretboard has a 12" radius all across the fretboard.

I don't see anywhere this guitar listed as having a compound radius fretboard. Both Ibanez website and Sweetwater list it as 305mm radius which is a 12 inch radius. Did they decide to change it before launching it?

Did anyone get this guitar? How's the in hand feel, playability, comfort, and sound quality? Would it be a good purchase over something like Fender Ultra HSS strat? Thanks!
@BishopDelicious Жыл бұрын
Seems like a great axe, but it's taking what makes the AZ the AZ.. away. Old school DiMarzio array, no S switching.. binding.. It's like an AZ got with an RG or S Series. Should be a different model designation. Cool guitar though.

I can tell you that set-up is not straight out of the box...action is set at 2mm for low E and 1,5 maybe 1,6mm for high E and definitely the nut action could be a tad lower. It's not 1960 anymore to have 7.25" radius on vintage guitars to set up action that high. These guitars should be set from factory at around 1,25mm on both sides (and you can take it down from there), while getting the nut lower than general factory specs...the guitar will sound smoother and less rigid...
@RevuitNet Жыл бұрын
They should not have removed the split coil switch, this really took away from its value for me… they should have kept this and also added a boost switch option also to give a small db increase. Simply having some more options with switching would have made this guitar a winner

Don, I enjoy your demo’s but don’t understand why the side profile. It looks like you’re talking to a wall and is annoying to watch. If there’s a cameraman - stop trying to ruin an otherwise great video demo. Chris

I still have no clue how Ibanez manages to convince people basswood is a premium wood.
@bkinblack Жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter, you won't notice any difference in sound when you plug it in anyway and who plays an electric guitar unplugged?
@minstrel9806 Жыл бұрын
@@bkinblack true that, although people criticize the use of Basswood on high end instrument not for its supposed tone characteristics but for the fact that it's actually a pretty cheap wood that's softer than most woods used for instruments. This makes the guitar more prone to dents and stuff like that, even tho that's mostly true on satin or oil finished ones.
@xxPanteraxxx Жыл бұрын
I personally like it. It may not be a premium wood, but it's still a great tone wood. A lot of high end Japanese made guitars I've played over years have featured it.
@reruddock5 ай бұрын
@@minstrel9806 basswood is very light. Less neck and shoulder pain playing for extended periods. If you own AND play any guitar long enough, it will end up with scratches, dents, dings, and chips regardless of the wood used.

Why does it seem like Ibanez thinks that everyone who wants a premium guitar wants a 24 fret neck?
@nicksonthevet Жыл бұрын
They make other models with 22 and 21 frets
@ruelsmith Жыл бұрын
@TheVetMusician Dr. Ng'umbi so, you should abandon the body shape you love and play something else? Certain guitar companies just seem to think only shredders play guitar or something.

@@ruelsmith you can shred on the first 5 frets! You can order a custom shop too
@ruelsmith Жыл бұрын
@TheVetMusician Dr. Ng'umbi according to Ibanez, you can't order a custom guitar from the custom shop. They make "custom shop" models, but you can't get one to your specs. Also, not everyone has $4k to throw at something like that, especially if you're playing at home.
