This is my first guitar I got for my early birthday gift, and I love this thing!! Mine is black, but yours is so cool, I love this green and blue! My Ibanez has an issue though.. I sat on the neck when it was my dad's.... and I broke the plug.... so my dad taped the cables back together, and it works fine now!!

Hah! Mine's a dark green, Indonesian. I bought it with my 18th birthday money in 2004. It's pretty unplayable live because the tuning stability suuuucks. Nice neck but still. It's the first guitar that's ever been "mine", paid for with my own cash. I don't think I'd ever want to sell it because it just wouldn't sell. I'd love to mod it but I'm modding my other guitars so the Ibanez better wait in line.

I eventually want to put work into my first guitar (LTD F200). I know it's not a great guitar, but I want to keep it for nostalgia and because I want to make it into a frankenstein guitar that I won't feel bad about modding. Do you think there is a threshold to how much you should invest in a guitar like that? I guess what I mean is: Do you think the changes you made improved the guitar and made it "better?" Sometimes I wonder if instead of investing in a lesser guitar if I should just spend the money on something nicer especially when the pick up set I want is about $300 alone (Devin Townsend fishman fluence), which is more than I paid for the guitar, haha!

I'd say the changes I made improved two key things; Tuning stability, and tone. From the bridge swap and pickups, it really made a difference. But it is true, if you buy a mid to higher end guitar, you may not need to swap anything on it. Granted if you love your instrument enough, money shouldn't be an issue to upgrade it to your heart's content. I've seen many players bash on others playing "cheap" guitars for no good reasons. Maybe they had a bad experience, or maybe just to troll, who knows... In many cases, it causes a placebo effect. If your guitar is cheap, it shouldn't be good. But if a guitar is expensive, it should be the best. But brand/price can be deceiving as well, I've seen high end Gibson Les Paul's with terrible fret work that needed full fret leveling jobs. For many great guitar players, they can play on basically anything. The key element is how well the guitar is set up. I can play my RG370DX as easy as any of my high end JEM's with a similar set up to the neck. I believe it's an endless battle haha but the moral to the story is, as long as you're happy with your instrument, that's all that matters!

@@harryclarke8359 it's excellent in tuning! Just don't over use it or use the whammy bar so extensively otherwise the strings will shorter their lifespans. Do not over tighten the locking nuts too

I would like to know which guitar you upgraded to, for better playability. Is it worth upgrading the pickups in this guitar? Or should I just buy a new guitar now that I can afford one?

Did you changed the studs? Im thinking of buying a used edge pro. But only the trem is included. No studs no nuts or whatsoever.

Yeah they were replaced with the Edge studs with the center locking allen!

Over confused with getting ibanez rg370dx or Jackson dinky22 arch

I have this RG and a Jackson JS32 DKA-M. I can tell you that even with brand new strings, the Jackson doesn't sound anywhere near as good. It's nice to play and it's very light. But it's a cheaper build for sure. The whammy bar does have a locking mechanism so you can let it swing around or keep it where it is. The RG doesn't have this feature and the bar actually has a bit of play on it but i just got used to that. The main difference for me is the fact that the Ibanez RG has a string tensioner and better tuning pegs, and the pickups are nicer. The headstock on the Jackson really needs a tensioner because of the angle that the high e string has to turn as it goes through the nut. It feels horrible to restring the jackson. It feels cheap. The bridge feels nice and solid although the hole doesn't seem perfect for it's shape. When you lower the bridge it goes so far down it kind of hits against the body when you dive the strings down. It looks like the dinky 22 is about 100gbp cheaper than the one I have. I would say get the ibanez 100%

OMG! I have one that I bought new. It's unusable, non-modifiable and I can't sell it. Can't even get 200$ Canadian for it, but I paid 400$. I'm so screwed. Think I'm better laughing about about it, but sometimes I feel like crying. Lolll Yeah, if only I could send it back to Ibanez for a re-work. The frets work is so bad, it makes your fingers bleed. The worst part? Mine is a 2009, so 5 years after yours, it had just gotten worst.

I got mine around 2009, and mine seems to be good. But I haven't had much chance to compare with other guitars. I paid between 200GBP and 300GBP can't remember exactly.
