@lydiagremillet87494 ай бұрын

@sezercanbolat714 жыл бұрын
I'm watching this in September, 2020. This video hit me for two reasons. Seeing the audience amazed by Maalouf's music, enjoying it together, with their loved ones... It made me really want to feel that magic of live music performance and share it with people. I wonder when I can do that again... However, this concert took place just a week after the " Gezi Park" events in Turkey. Some people call it a riot, it's controversial. People were protesting to prevent a historical park from being destroyed in Taksim, İstanbul. Then, this movement spread to other big cities, Ankara, İzmir etc. I know Maalouf wrote "Beirut" to express the sorrow and the pain he felt while walking in the streets of Beirut, caused by the war. This music is about sorrow, pain and maybe fear. I've seen that, the people in the room felt that sorrow in their own way, through their own recent experiences. When I realized that, I felt the need to share my observation here, because I thought the people whom this music touches should know what is underneath those faces, in the hearts of the people in that room.

I don't know - nor do I really care - what "they" call this kind of music, but to me this is the kind of "jazz" that really speaks - mainly, because the SOUND is powerful, percussive, sharp, and clear as opposed to the kind of "smokiness" that I tend to hear in some other forms of jazz. In my ears this sounds like jazz that grew another testicle without even asking if another was needed.
