Šibenik, Croatia

Šibenik is a historic city in the central part of the Croatian Adriatic coast. It is known for its beautiful old town, which is home to the UNESCO-protected St. James Cathedral, a masterpiece of the Renaissance architecture. Not so colorful at all. Clever price tricking tourists. Prices in restaurants as in western neighbors, and even worse. Narrow streets, despite the tightness, smell of urine due to dozens of cats wandering around day and night. The price for the Krka Park gives you the shivers (40€ per person in the high season is a gross exaggeration). Beaches not so close to each other. The city is not very dog-friendly, no grassy areas, unless well outside the center (but this is a disadvantage for pet owners). I do not recommend it, unfortunately. I have the impression that Croats are increasingly sensing business on visitors, remodeling their already not very good houses into rooms for rent, which creates a landscape of eternal, painstaking renovation literally everywhere you look.
