Excellent work and clearly presented! Great talk by Dr. Conn, a parasitic plant expert. The built in questions are great for classroom use. She talks clearly and at a good speed so that students have time to absorb what she is saying.

Excellent video and topic. Very helpful information and it's appreciated. Nicely laid out to comprehend, even if a person was new to plant parasitism in biology. For me, you took a subject I knew of and still impressed me with new information! 4:44 Below: I couldn't help myself. It's what I thought of and you asked. 😉 [Mutualism] Citizens/Orgs+ - Decentralized & Autonomous, helping others/each other [Commensalism] Industry/Citizens/Gov/Orgs+ - Utilization of resources to skillfully obtain better opportunities or talent, positive solutions/outcomes from interactions, etc. [Parasitism] Medical/health industry only promoting pharma concoctions vs promoting overall betterment of health. Economically large persons controlling citizens/small-med businesses market, opportunities, and livelihoods (Great Reset as an example). Greed/ego drives repeated evolution of parasitism. History of cheaters.

Great lecture! One little issue at 8:55. Of the three mycohetertrophs shown, only two are orchids. The middle one, Indian Pipe (Monotropa uniflora) is in the Ericaceae.

When I was a youngster, my dad gave me some pre-prepared, stained slides to examine with my microscope. I remember being fascinated and just a tiny bit horrified by a slide labelled "Dodder & Heath" (the latter may have been heath milkwort) with one plant's cells invading and commingling with another's.

There is a preadaption by proximity in the dodder ancestors. Proximity is necessary for all parasitic entities. A virus one Millimeter away from me is no threat.

Crank the speed up to 1.75x normal speed. The presenter talks too slowly.
