I feel as if I should clarify on how you can get 2.11 SMP to use the WSeB SMP driver. 1. Fire up a WSeB system that has SMP. 2. Look in some INST\SMP (same dir as INST\UNI) directory, I think it was called, and copy all of the files in there onto a floppy disk. 3. Look for OS2APIC.PSD and put that on the same disk. 4. Run the 2.11 SMP installer. 5. Say yes to wanting SMP support, but, say you want to use some "other" platform support driver for SMP. 6. Throw in your disk with files liberated from 4.5 WSeB and you're off to the races. Literally no other modification is required. If you want to upgrade a non-SMP 4.52 system to an SMP system, use this same approach, but replace OS2KRNL, OS2LDR, DOSCALL1, and whatever other filenames you find in that INST\SMP dir on the target system with the files from that dir.

0:54 I hate how often times in history we don’t record the names of those who make these great innovations. One example I can think of is when the original iPhone was being made, the keyboard was bad and people would make too many typos. Someone made an AI keyboard that could predict what letter was most likely to be pressed next and increase the size of the hit box of that letter while decreasing the sizes of the others. No one recorded his name despite him making one of the most consequential contributions to one of the most important products of the 21st century.

That's, sadly, usually how it ends up going, especially in computing. There's a few good documents out there on the OS/2 Lore, but, nothing's as good as a primary source. The person that added SMP support to UNIX System V (SVR4.2MP) is also forgotten...

Back in the mid 90s, I ran a OS/2 Warp Server Advanced and utilized the Netware Gateway functionality. Was a hack but worked.

I looked at using it once, but, yeah... not the most reliable thing on the planet!
