Instructor is very skilled at writing backwards :)

I think it's much more likely that the video was flipped about the y-axis so that everything turned around and we can read it. After all, there's only like a 10% chance she's actually left handed.

@@jongreenepwns Another clue is her wedding bands are on her right hand in the video. Definitely flipped.

This is very much a case of back to the future for those of us who were doing Software Configuration Management well 15-20 years ago. Personally, I chose to not jump on the DevOps train because it was lacking many of the other aspects of SCM which are essential in hard core engineering settings. its good to see the industry starting to cater for the more mature industries again.

I appreciate the training, but at the same time, I'm amazed by the backwards writing. Well done. I was enthralled.

Was thinking the same, must be some clear sheet with things written backward, not sure :D
@SanjayDey-g5w Жыл бұрын
Must be some IBM technology that enables capturing the presenter from the front (while she/he is writing on the board) and superimpose that with what is being written on the board. I have seen this only with IBM videos so it must be IBM technology behind this. (I don't think writing backwards is that simple)

I'm not sure the DevSecOps includes the context for the security on the network, but I think this video doesn't. Recently the service mesh got more hyped and application-level network things like intelligent routing, A/B testing, TLS, etc became more dependent on DevOps. How do you think about the DevSecOps side view on the Service Mesh?

I took up a Full Stack Development Bootcamp. After Bootcamp, was offered a apprenticeship by a renowned automotive brand in their IT department. I could not be choosy since I had no real experience so I gladly accept the offer. Turn out, I sign up to be a secdevops. How can I bring my skills from a Full Stack to SecDevOps?

How does she write backwards?

I believe the video is mirrored on the Y axis before uploading. If you watched this in person, it would all be backwards. They flipped the video around before uploading it.

I'm still confused. Do we need to learn DevOps to get into DevSecOps or is it just something totally different. There might be some intersecting topics right? I still don't understand how it would be possible to into DevSecOps without leaning how things work in DevOps. I've read multiple articles and found every single article to be contradicting what the other articles said!
@IBMTechnology5 жыл бұрын
Hi Nino: Thanks for your question. The industry is working up to no less than a dozen different permutations of DevOps (GitOps, AIOps, BizDevOps...)! DevSecOps = DevOps + Security. I think of this as DevOps with a focus on security. Where DevOps initially was focused on bringing together Development and Operations, DevSecOps, emphasizes the bringing together of IT Sec/InfoSec/AppSec into the mix. It is really an extension of breaking down silos with yet another critical stakeholder in application delivery. This also means integrating security and quality activities into the pipeline process. I talk more about this integration in my blog series: medium.com/ibm-garage/devsecops-58e0aa323412 Simply put, DevSecOps is a derivative of DevOps. Thank you for watching our video. -Andrea

I just started my career in security field. And I also like development so Can I become a DevSecOps?
@IBMTechnology3 жыл бұрын
We can't see why not! 🙂 👍 We recommend you continue your career path with some courses and certificates for DevOps and DevSecOps. For example, these ones on Coursera: ibm.co/3aPyWOY (incl. DevOps) and ibm.co/3vlnq7g (incl. DevSecOps).
@sangeethav1453 жыл бұрын
Definitely, I will do that. Anyway thank you for your support. And one more thing now I only have my bachelor's so do have any recommendations to master in cyber security and DevSecOps.
@IBMTechnology3 жыл бұрын
Glad we could help! 🙂 And any official Master's in Cybersecurity that's available to you (physical in your country or online) should be just fine. There are many Universities that offer such programs, and a search on the Internet should help you pick the one that seems most appropriate. Additionally, you can have a look at our IBM SkillsBuild portal -> 'For students' section -> Cybersecurity learning path 👉 ibm.co/3n7rsMR

This sounds great, but who in the organisation does this apply to? In larger organisations, there is a disconnection between management, sales and development. They may not even be in the same office. Who is it that should have all this overview? Everyone can't reasonably have this level of overview. The sales team and management has no insight into the code, and even if they did, they might not understand it. The development team COULD have full insight, but is it really the developer's job to ensure sales have set the right expectations for the customer, or that management knows how to "speak dev" when setting up the user stories? And is it reasonable to expect Dev to have full insight into management software, such as JIRA, to track all of this? Or should there be a third team of people specifically hired just to observe the chain and let people know when there are improvements to be made?
