The speaker being able to write backwards (to him) so we can see it was impressive enough, but his style of communicating his message is EXCELLENT. Well done, IBM.

The best explanation I have come across!! So a hypervisor takes a physical machine and not only makes it virtual, it can also duplicate it to where it becomes 'several virtual machines'

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:29 🖥️ *A hypervisor is software that virtualizes a compute host's functions, dividing CPU, RAM, and network resources into subparts for multiple virtual servers.* 02:45 🔒 *The hypervisor ensures data security by creating barriers between virtual servers, preventing unauthorized access to data between instances.* 04:34 📦 *Storage for virtual servers can be attached through the hypervisor, directly to the server, or via network storage like an NFS share, impacting data routing and accessibility. * 05:55 💰 *Hypervisors enable multi-tenancy, driving down compute costs significantly, making it feasible to sell virtual servers at a fraction of the cost of a dedicated compute host.* Made with HARPA AI

I had a question. The network component of your compute host, what exactly is its purpose if the hypervisor is what grants it the capability to extend the compute host's power upon multiple workloads? Is that what let's you transport the data to your own computer in the first place?

back in 1987 when i was a UCSD student, we already wrote an app to run Sun Solaris OS /Novell/DOS on PC. CPU processing power/Ram/boot disk and user data disk space are partitioned to run multiple OS. that app is "hypervisor" we call it today. we did this back in 1987. we should start a company back then hahaha. Honestly, we were bored with virtual technology at that time. Maybe, VMware stole the idea from us. lol. i never push my own data to the cloud. A guy like me can read your data all day. haha
