Great information, I was there 41 years ago for IOBC. Still have fond memories of Fort Benning.

R-Cert sounds like a great idea, wish it had been around when I went through the pipeline in the early 00s. Also wish we had videos like these back then, would have taken some of the mystery out of things. Great stuff.

Well done. In January 1974, I signed up for IOBC at Fort Benning. The course was excellent, and I have many fond memories of this period of my life.

Question. If you went to ranger school as an enlisted soldier and passed. Now you earned your commission and just finished Ibloc. Do you have to go to Ranger school again?
@derekwischmann612310 ай бұрын
No, you do not. Once a Soldier (Officer, Warrant, or Enlisted) graduates Ranger School, they are awarded the Ranger Tab forever. If an Enlisted Soldier is Ranger tabbed and then turns to the dark side as an Officer, they will not attend Ranger School because they have already graduated the school. Hope this helps!!

Sir, does the housing process also apply for the national guard, because ive heard both sides, that we are and we arent allowed to bring our families

That is great information. Thank you. Typically, how long is the Ranger School segment?
@derekwischmann61238 ай бұрын
62 Days.

Fantastic information! Is it typical for national guard to allow fresh LTs to stay for Ranger school post IBOLC? Thanks!!
@derekwischmann61238 ай бұрын
Depends on that State’s Training Funds Availability. States that have an Infantry Battalion like Missouri encourage LTs to go to Ranger School upon completion of IBOLC. Some States that have low amounts of training dollars will probably be more selective of who they give slots to.

Sir, when throughout the IBOLC process/timeline would a 2nd Lt. receive the chance to attend airborne school? I assume that because it is only 3 weeks long and taught right on Ft. Benning that most officers who successfully complete Ranger School would be afforded the chance to attend before PCSing to their first unit? Thanks in advance.
@199thinbde32 жыл бұрын
Only officers who are going to an airborne unit are guaranteed Airborne School, opportunities to attend after BOLC and before PCSing depends on your report date, other schools you must attend such as Stryker or Bradly Leader Course, and how many slots are available.

Sir, for ROTC and OCS commissionees, is your duty assignment based off of performance during the first 7 weeks IBOLC instruction or is it determined by accessions OML?
@199thinbde32 жыл бұрын
Duty station will be assigned from the AIM Marketplace using preference and needs of the Army. This will be a topic for a future video.

Thank you Sir for this video. It did look like this was more focused on active-duty soldiers. I am a National Gaurd soldier and I wanted to know if there are any differences in the process.
@199thinbde32 жыл бұрын
Thank you for checking out the video! Typically, National Guard Lieutenants will attend the 19 week IBOLC course and then return to their Unit. Whether you attend further schooling (such as Ranger School) after IBOLC will be up to your Unit. Let us know if you have any additional questions!

Sir, are infantry officers in the National Guard also guaranteed Ranger slots? Also, is it necessary to complete Airborne School before Ranger School?
@BenjaminTroxell2 жыл бұрын
Back in 2011 when I went through IBOLC NG were not guaranteed slots at Ranger. I remember all the NG that wanted to go to Ranger got the chance to join us RA folks after IBOLC. That being said idk if it still holds true in 2022.

Airborne School is not a requirement to attend Ranger School.

In 1984 I was on a training mission for the Infantry school at Fort Benning, and we had some officer's that we're going through the training mission we were on... I was assigned to pull Point going over a hillside there at the base, and I was able to catch the OPFOR element of the 101st Airborne coming over the hill, and quickly alerted the officer's to the fact that we were getting ready to be outflanked if we didn't retreat and outflank them instead... My actions led to the defeat of the OPFOR task force and I somehow only managed to get what we called a Warm Fuzzy award on paper, but no pin on award like a AAM or even a ACM for my efforts... I guess that it wasn't enough for my CO to recognize my actions in a appropriate manner??? Hopefully the officer's these days do more to respect their enlisted members when things like that occur???

Is it possible for 2LT/1LT to stay as a platoon leader, disregarding a career as a commander? My previous CCO mentioned a warrant packet for dedicated PL, is that a real option on the active duty side?

He was also a tomb guard in the 90s. There’s a Washington Post article about him (I’m assuming it’s the same Victor Satterlund)
